A player on the cusp of 4-star recruiting hype, Tymere Dubose decided this weekend to play for his fellow Youngstownians (Youngstontonians? Youngstowners?) Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops. The trickle from the Ohio pipeline is now a steady stream of recruits committing their services to the University of Kentucky.
Dubose fits the DLine mantra that Stoops built at Florida State. Rather than looking for a specific type of player (pass rusher or run blocker), this staff is going after the biggest most athletic guys they can find. After watching a few snippets from Dubose’s Junior season, the kid moves EXTREMELY well for someone that weighs 265. Whether he’s running people down on special teams, bruising on the goal line up the middle, or rushing the pass, the kid is all over the field. His height may be a double-edged sword for now- helping him deflect passes at the line of scrimmage but making him an easier target for OTs- but it will only benefit him when he is playing for Coach Brumbaugh. Brumbaugh may be getting a player with sound technique, but throwing him in the mix with other great DEs (Hatcher, Za’Darius, Bud) will only accelerate his development.
You can see some incredibly athletic plays on Dubose’s highlight reel here, including a nice panqueque at :35.

Whats a puss rusher?
LOL, I rush the puss all the time.
Pretty impressive since last year was his first year playing fb! GBB!!!
Who said poon?
Height didn’t hurt Art Still. I realize that’s ancient history, but he’s the best I have seen at UK.
My sides are splitting! LMAO! Someone should read their articles before hitting the “submit” button! Tears streaming down my face from laughing so much!
LOL this site is free so I don’t complain about typos/grammar errors unless it’s Matt who makes them (he did graduate from Duke Law after all), but that is one of the best typos/Freudian slips on this site ever.
Aren’t most guys puss rushers?
I am reading these article too fast, I missed the puss rusher!!
Wow, this is one of the worst articles I have seen recapping this kid. First, his height does not hurt him, it will benefit him, ONCE he learns overall better technique, which as of now he doesn’t have yet you claim it is a strength.
Welcome to the BBN Tymere looking forward to seeing you kick some a$$! GO CATS!!!
@ #9, The article has been edited and now it reads, “pass rusher…” WHEW! It was a good laugh while it lasted.
