This is Mitch McGary. You should get to know him. As mentioned last night, McGary is a fast-rising big man in the class of 2012 and has been given five-star marks across the board from Scout.com, Rivals and ESPN. The Indiana native played last season in New Hampshire at Brewster Academy, where he added 30 pounds of muscle and improved his grades, which were said to have been a question mark. Now, at 6’10”, 255 pounds, the lefty is getting looks from nearly every top program in the country.
That includes Kentucky, who is said to have major interest in him. Rivals says he already has offers from Kansas, Texas, Marquette and Indiana, though they might drop him when they realize he’s not African. McGary also said recently that Duke, Louisville, Memphis, Florida and West Virginia are also reaching out lately. The good news for you, Cats fans? He said he’s improved his grades. He’s obviously smart enough to figure out where he needs to be.
According to ESPN, he’s physical with great upper body strength and limitless energy. He stretches the defense to 18 feet and can finish at the rim with either hand. You can watch and make your own judgement.
