Meet Derrick Favors

Eat your heart out, Josh Harrellson.

Derrick Favors isn’t exactly some sort of mystery to Kentucky fans, as his name has been mentioned countless times in recruiting discussions/dreams, but as we continue moving through our quick bios the players being targeted by Kentucky for the class of 2009, we’ve reached that bundle of talent that is Mr. Favors. Derrick Favors is 6’9″ 220 pounds and ranked as Rivals #1 power forward and third overall player. Right now, he’s playing for the Atlanta Celtics AAU team that sent the Cats Randolph Morris and was named as the MVP of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions over Memorial Day Weekend.

Last year, as a junior, Favors averaged a triple double with 25 ppg, 18 rpg and 10 bpg. Favors has been offered by Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Memphis and N.C. State, in addition to the Cats and has not indicated that anyone is his leader. Although it might mean absolutely nothing, it should be noted that Favors was recruited by Clemson’s Shaka Smart, who is was just named as an assistant to Billy Donovan.

Enjoy the greatness:

Be patient, it gets to him….
