Maybe Next Year.

newton-florida

We kind of all saw this coming.  Florida came into Commonwealth and looked very much like the team that’s been billed as one of the fastest in the nation as they put a beating on the Cats with big plays on both sides of the ball.  Will Muschamp got a victory in his first game against UK, 48-10, thanks to an offense that churned out 400 rushing yards.  The Gators got 157 yards from Jeff Demps, 106 from Chris Rainey and 87 from Mike Gillislee on only 29 carries and forced four UK turnovers.  They’ve now won 25 years in a row.

Why can Boise State recruits lesser ranked players than Kentucky year after year but can field a team that would not be an embarrassment? May not win the SEC but would beat Florida or TN at least once every 25 years! Why???

I hope I’m not the only one here who really didn’t expect UK to win this game. I mean I get it, every year there is a chance, but please. Florida was clearly the better team coming into tonight, and even though I hoped and prayed that UK would pull off an upset, I didn’t get my hopes up. Yeah, Joker makes sketchy play calls, and yeah, our receivers clearly shouldn’t be playing college ball if they can’t catch a perfect spiral that lands right in the bread basket, but don’t get on here and pretend that this one was going to be an easy victory and we blew it. We need a coaching staff that has the capability of coaching at an SEC-caliber level and players to match. I’m not giving up on Joker yet, but he really needs to get it together and give us a reason to get behind him.

  40. Rumor
    11:01 pm September 24, 2011 Permalink

The worst part about this team is 0 motivation. When things went well for a few posessions, I expected to see the sideline pumped and ready to go, but instead they walked into the locker room at half time unexcited. This is part players. Someone needs to step up and be that guy to get everyone fired up. But Joker doesn’t exactly seem like the motivational type either. We have to have a coach who can pump the guys up. Rich Brooks was great at it.

  41. JB95Jeep

Morgan Newton flat out sucks. I have been following UK football for 27 years and I cannot think of a worse quarterback. I can’t get anyone to give me a quarterback at Kentucky over the last 30 or 40 years who was worse than Newton. The staff messed up by letting Mossakowski transfer. Newton might be able to run the ball, but he can’t throw for sh**!!! We will not win another game this season with this type of offense.

We all know that Joker has ended any hope we have of another bowl year. But it’s not his fault. It’s Mitch Brainfart’s fault for hiring him. Brainfart must go!! He’s the one who’s killing us. Furthermore, if all of you numbnuts would stop going to the games, they might get the message. But as long as you’re buying their seats, they could care less who wins as long as UK pockets the revenue.

There is a glass ceiling on the Kentucky football program. At the end of the day they don’t have what it takes to compete at the highest level in the SEC. History has proved that. Tonight was no different. Too many KY kids on the roster and you can’t win at the highest level with those kind of athletes. They are a step down from Florida, Georgia and Louisianna kids. You can be upset at Joker all you want about an embarassing loss all you want but at the end of the day it’s just a part of being Kentucky football. It is what it is. Try to be realistic about it. This is a down year and on down years KY can’t compete or be competitive with the upper tier SEC teams.

I was ready to RISE with this football team. I know you need to market and sell tickets but lifting the expectations of the fan base comes with a cost. You better win games, or at least hang in there. Show us some kind of improvement. I know that the BBN is dying to have a football team we can believe in. No one expected to win this game… But hey, Rocky lost to Apollo but he went the distance.

Just asking this team, coaching staff, AD, and the fans to just go the distance with all the Apollo’s that is the SEC. Not asking for wins, just bust up their face, wipe their smiles, and make them dread coming to Lexington. Win or loss, THAT is what an SEC team should be doing.

RISE? Best leave that to the marketing department. Just show us something on the field

I definitely did not expect UK to win, but what I saw was a pee-wee football team. The couldnt block, tackle, run, catch, throw or do anything. Everywhere you turn there were stupid mistakes that falls on coaching. If this school isnt going to take football seriously, I think we should just join the ACC. At least we would be in a Conference where we actually have competition in a sport that we care about. Getting kinda of tire of us getting our ass beat every year football, and only having a handful of quality SEC games to look forward to in basketball every year.

I do not know the attendance, but I know of some people who will not be back to Commonwealth Stadium. The fans hate on their own and ask you to sit down the entire game. If you don’t want to cheer, stay home! If you take up for other fans who are wearing shirts that police escort you out and make you turn inside out, then they take you out in handcuffs. We’ve had tickets for years, but may never go back. I’d rather spend my time and money with fans and programs that appreciate it.

    Gents and Ladies,

Folks I think we have regressed to the bottom depths of hell where UK football was before we have had the recent mediocre success of becoming a respectable program. I really do like Joker and wish he was successful, but lets face the facts….. We need an innovative offensive minded football coach ala Brian Kelly, Mike Leach, etc….. We have enough talent on this squad to at least be a factor in the SEC east race. However we are poorly coached, undisciplined, seem to lake urgency, or the will to win. I don’t care how big the talent gap is with Florida, you turn it over 4 times and you’ll lose to anybody. This team seems so damn flat and disinterested it really makes you wonder? I am sick and tired of hearing the excuses that we are UK and will never be a top SEC team, BULL****! There is no reason from year to year we don’t have a shot to win the east, at least Rich Brooks showed some fire and passion on the sidline, This team is a joke. I also would like to ask what in the hell is with our WR situation? Did we forget to target good WR prospects the last 2-3 years? This is by far the worst WR corps we have had that I can remember. I really love UK football, but it is exhausting and frustrating. Something has to change…….
