I said at the end of last season we either needed to fire Joker or commit to giving him 4 years. Because I just can’t see, with what we have on the team and what our schedule looks like, this team going to a bowl game which is absolutely what it will take to retain Joker. I feel like we’re flushing a year down the toilet because at the end of last season I was 100% convinced that Joker will be fired at the end of this coming season even if we improve, look like a somewhat competitive team, and only get 5 wins again.

He was placed in this position by people who put finances above on-field success by hiring a first-timer in the SEC and those same people have their hands tied on what they can supply in terms of money/facilities, etc., to make it easier for him.

I have missed 2 games since Rich Brooks first year at UK. I tailgate with die-hards. I am one that gets upset when people are negative towards the football program. Saying that, I was physically ill when I had to renew my tickets this year, and so were all of my football friends. I know several who have given up tickets this season. I would say up to 80+% are negative about the up coming season.

Totally agree with what Matt just said, i too was physically ill to renew my tickets this year. 10 year season ticket holder, waited until last day to renew, getting tougher each year.
All you need to know is my friend was on a waiting list since 2004 for a parking pass. Last year, he got a notice saying that he was still 4-5 years away from getting a parking pass based on current attrition. Earlier this week, he got a parking pass application. People are jumping ship in mass. I was on the same list/path until I gave up my tickets 3 years ago.

Part of the ticket problem is how jacked the prices have become with K fund donations, etc. We started season tickets Rich Brooks’s first year and they were $300 for 2 seats in the endzone. Now it’s closer to $800. People don’t, and can’t, afford to spend $800 to watch a team get destroyed. Joker needs to be COMPETATIVE in games. When you get blown out and can’t move the ball no one wants to pay to see that. With that said, I did say that the coach that could finally beat Tennessee was welcome to stay as long as he wanted, so on a personal level I will stand by that.
If that’s the case with money, let’s just blow up commonwealth stadium, build a new rupp arena on that site, and never play football again.

Matt, I remember a year or two ago a letter that said you needed to be in the top 8500 of the K-fund. My K-fund rank is approximately 13000 and I’m getting a pass. Tells you approximately how many people have been bailing.
Matt,stop blaming the KY Senate. Lexington could put together a similar private sector package as the YUM Center did. Stop saying that Lexington can’t do it for football. UK has the whole state to pull from. Given the pitiful history of UofL football, they were able to motivate donors, we should be able to do the same.

A problem with the football team is their horrible offensive play calling. I’m not for sure how much Joker has to do with the play calling now but its still the same schemes as when he was the coordinator. I understand that UK does not have too many offensive options but sometime they are going to have to try change up their play calling. Every possession running one run up the middle and throwing the same slant pass every time (especially on 3rd and 20 trowing a 2 yard slant pass to gain two yards if they catch it) is not going give you any results. Once again I know they don’t have many options or play makers but try sometimes to throw down the field. Try something to produce results bc this systems is not working. Am I completely wrong?? does any one agree???
I don’t get this Matt. Mitch is talking so open about how shaky Joker’s future is but he hasn’t lost or won a game since last season. We gave up the chance to get Mike Leach because Mitch wants the perception he is doing the right thing when it appears even he believes this is a wasted season. I know BCG gave him reasons outside the lines to get booted after 2 years but he had no problem doing the right thing when it came to basketball. There are enough obstacles with football that you can’t afford to linger on something that isn’t working.
The only way to get a coach to come to KY over TN or Arkansas is to give him season tickets to UK basketball.

If Joker does not get the job done this season Kentucky has one optioon if they want to elevate their football program and that is defensive coordinator of Alabama Kirby Smart. Smart is a Charlie Strong caliber motivator/coach with the savvy of Coach Cal.

Mitch Barnhart has failed us with the football team. It’s sad to write that as he made an awesome hire with Brooks, who completely made our program legitimate. He has pissed on the great work of Brooks by sticking with Joker.
Not trying to be too negative here, but why in the hell would Kirby Smart come here? I’m sure he had plenty of head coaching opportunities the last few years and has turned them all down. What would make you think that if the KY job was offered to him he would accept, same for Tressel. People need to realize that it would take a miracle to get them to come here. We need to look at “hot” assistants from lessor schools or young guys blazing through the ranks at other lessor schools. Urban Meyer started at Bowling Green and went to Utah, those are the schools we could poach a coach from; not the top assistant at Alabama.
I called your postgame show and told you last year if we didn’t hire Mike Leach I would give up my 3 season tickets that I’ve had since the 90’s. I have taken the Lexington Herald Leader approach to my season tickets. I could walk up to any home game next year and get in the door for less than face value & not pay a K-Fund fee. I will contiune to use the product, I will just no longer allow an inferior product to use me.

It’s like this… Most fans like to watch good football. Joker’s teams have not been good. If he can’t at the very least compete and get us to a 6-6 record this year, considering fan apathy or anger toward the program, he needs to be replaced. That’s the short-term. If history predicts the future, we’ll suck forever anyway, but three years of mediocrity/poor play shows a trend and he needs to be let go.

Joker has made plenty of proper moves as far as player suspensions/dismissals. He has made a lot of solid moves as far as personnel, but has had some questionable ones too. Unfortunately for Joker, this is 2012 and there is only one bottom-line in college sports, winning. The reason? Winning brings in money.
The best we can do is hire a C-USA level coach with a good season like UNC hired Fedora.
If we get rid of Joker I don’t see Leach leaving Washington St after one year. It took him a couple years to get someone to take a chance on him, I can’t see him not showing them loyalty for at least 3 seasons.

After Brooks survived the probabtionary scholarship restrictions, look what happened. If Brooks can do it, how come Joker seems unable? I think the majority of fans are figuring this out. I see a lot of empty seats at commonwealth this season.

UK could get a high profile coach hell few years ago Parcells almost came here and dont say well he would not be able to recruit every high profile fb players and parents would have been drooling to have there son to play for parcells. UK should throw big money out there for Brian Billick

How are we spoiled by Music City bowls, RJ? Isn’t progress the key to building a program? We were on the right track and changing the “content mindset” of the BBN was a step in the right direction. If you expect 4 or 5 wins per year, that’s what you’re going to get. Regardless of fans not being on the field, that mentality trickles down. Players, staff, etc see that stuff on the message boards, news, radio, and so forth. It’s only human nature.

Quaker Steak & Lube is a well-known restaurant (mainly for wings) mainly along the east coast but it’s expanding. And I consider myself a bit of a pepper-head and I can guarantee that the atomic wings there will light you up. You may be able to power through them, but they aren’t fun by any means. Think of eating habaneros but only hotter.
I’ve been to a Quaker Steak restaurant in the Cincinnati area. Food was mediocre.It’s all about looking like Fonzi’s garage or something.
BTW, some of the things that you don’t have any familiarity with make me realize that you aren’t very well traveled.

I PROMISE you all NO LIE. Me and my buddies went to B-Dubs when we were 18-19 yrs old and ordered 50 wings. We had a contest to see who could eat the most. I had 20, next closest was 9. One other had like 3 and one had one bite. I took the rest home. They were extremely hot, but not the hottest thing I’ve ever had. They tasted awful too BTW.
