Matt Jones returns to Middlesboro (Thursday Show Thread)

It’s the tour stop he’s been waiting for since the beginning. Matt Jones, the prodigal son of Middlesboro, has returned home to broadcast a radio show and eat an Old Timer’s Breakfast. Matt, Ryan and Drew The Employee are at Middlesboro’s BRAND NEW Cracker Barrel for this morning’s radio show in Bell County in front of a big crowd.

They should give Matt a couple of those golden stars on his nice new shirt.

The Heat would be the perfect fit for Harrelson. Their lack of bigs is one big reason. His ability to space the floor with his 3pt shot will only make Lebron better. Great at setting screens, decent re bounder. He would probably get the minimum, but that’s better than unemployment.

I told you weeks before camp began and I’ll tell you now: Dyshawn Mobley will go down as one of the VERY best running backs ever to play at UK.
Clemons is very good, but I don’t think he is a natural tailback. Dyshawn Mobley will show you balance, speed, quickness, vision, power, and nimble feet.

  45. Head Bussa
    10:28 am August 16, 2012 Permalink

It really hurts to not have Clemons, but we are much better equipped to deal with it this year than we were last year. Coshik, Dyshawn, and J.T. will do a great job. I know he’ll get a lot of carries, but I don’t think Raymond Sanders is all that great.

80- I think b/c UL was in much worse shape after Krags than UK was when both coaches were hired at their respective schools. UL had nowhere to go but up while UK regressed. Not a bash, just stating what happened. That, combined with Charlie’s first year recruiting and apparent ability to pull kids out of Florida to UL has folks making early calls on his overall coaching ability. If Charlie actually starts to win this year, then he starts to look like the real deal, IMO.

I’m being honest and I don’t think odds of a Louisville Final Four are all that great. They shouldn’t have made it this past year — if only it weren’t for Donovan’s team choking down the stretch and giving up an 11 point lead with 8 minutes left. The Cards also had to survive very close games against Davidson and New Mexico, and somehow got Michigan State on their worst night ever. I’m not saying they won’t be good, but this past run to the Final 4 was not easy at all and I certainly don’t expect it to be this year either.

Bobby Petrino isn’t as bad a guy as people think. I knew him a little bit from belonging to the same golf club as him in Louisville. He is a polite guy and is a very loving father to his kids. He obviously has some character flaws but to act like other coaches are perfect is just being closed-minded. Bobby Petrino has not got his teams in NCAA trouble and he is probably as good a football coach that is living today. Barnhart would have to seriously consider what Petrino could do for Kentucky football. I, for one, would be downright giddy if we hired Petrino. If we got Petrino, we could very well end up James Quick. We would right away have one of the Top-5 coaches in America and one of the Top-5 players in the country (and possible Heisman-type player).

244, 246) You guys are comparing apples to aliens. The moving around Cal has done is a far cry from leaving your team in the middle of the night. Here’s Calipari’s head coaching gigs.

UMASS- 1988-1996 (8 years- left for NBA)
    Nets- 1996-1999 (3 years. Fired)
Memphis- 2000-2009 (9 years- left for UK)
    UK- 2009-present (4 years minimum)

    Petrino’s stops as a HC:
Louisville 2003-2006 (3 years. Left for NFL)
Atlanta Falcons 2007 (1 year. Quit. Left in the middle of the night)
Arkansas 2008-2011 (3 years. Fired amid scandal)

    — Falcons quarterback Joey Harrington, on Petrino’s carefree demeanor at Tuesday’s news conference in Arkansas. “That’s what I think brought up the anger, to have him talk about family, about team and about commitment, and then to come in here and have a form letter at your locker. That’s not how a man acts. That’s how a coward acts.”

Head Bussa/TNK) From his own former players’ and former team owner’s mouths- Disloyal, cowardly, betrayer of trust. Are you sure you really want to compare John Calipari to that man?
