The hits keep coming for Green Bay Punter/ Big Blue Legend Tim Masthay. Last year, he was just some NFL rookie, dropping the hammer on Devin Hester whenever his schedule allowed. Tim finished his first season as a Super Bowl champion and Murray city street namesake. I heard through the grapevine that Tim was actually the moving force behind yesterday’s public offering of 250,000 shares of Green Bay Packers stock, and he managed the entire offering with a TI-86 calculator. Something tells me he’s just getting started.
On Sunday, Tim messed around against the Giants and was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week today. Here’s what Mark Spofford from Packers.com had to say:
Against the Giants this past Sunday, Masthay placed four of five punts inside the New York 20-yard line. He averaged 44.2 yards both gross and net on five punts, four of which forced the Giants to start drives on their 14-, 14-, 1-, and 13-yard lines.
New York had no punt-return yards in the game, as three of Masthay’s punts were fair-caught and two others were downed. His long was a 55-yarder from his own 20 that was fair-caught at the New York 25.
