Maryland Closing The Distance on the Harrisons?

The Harrisons are spending the day out in Venice Beach for the Elite 24 game this weekend and talked a little about recruiting. They spoke with Dave Telep of ESPN about the recruiting process and after Telep had this to say:

“I feeling now like Maryland closed the gap and is making its move”

For a while it has been a two horse race to earn the services of the top five brothers. While the duo has ties to the Maryland area I just can’t understand why any elite player would pass on Cal. While the quote may not amount to anything it does provide a spark of intrigue to the recruitment of the duo.

There is no way they are going to Maryland. Maryland fans need to just face the facts. Their priority is winning and at Maryland they wouldn’t even win the ACC so why would they go there?

this is called creating job security … Telep says we’re in the driver seat, then someone closes the gap, then we’re outside looking in, then we’re back in the lead … then they sign with UK in the end

Hopefully they’ll commit to UK and get to enjoy the spectacle of us destroying Maryland to open the new Nets arena.

I hate comments like” why would an elite player pass up Cal”. Elite players (top 10 in the class) are more than likely than likely 1 & done no matter where they play. The great quality about Cal is that he can take a guy in that 11-50 range, pair them with a couple elite players & turn them into a 1 & done guy.

Coach Cal gets who he wants. If the Harrisons play here it’s because Cal wanted them. If they don’t it’s because he didn’t want them as much as the media thinks.

    Pretty simple, actually.

    10. Also, Cal can be the difference in late first round and lottery pick, or even second round, in some cases. If they were choosing between us and another elite school, it would be more understandable, but Maryland doesn’t offer too much for growth. Even one and dones can improve, to stand the best chances of a good starter paycheck. They run the risk of stagnating and hurting their stock by not getting as much exposure.

    10. Think about guys like Lance “God’s Gift” Stephenson, Quincy Miller, Perry Jones III, Josh Selby, Andre Drummond, Tobias Harris, CJ Leslie, Will Barton, Fab Melo, Joe Jackson, Xavier Henry. All of these guys current and future careers would be much brighter had they played for Cal, but who knows of all of these guys that Cal really wanted.

It’s not that Maryland is closing the distance. It’s that Wiggins is pushing them that direction.

This debate is ridiculous. Cal gets what Cal wants. At the end of the day the Twins don’t have a say really (they may think they do). They WILL wear blue. Get in line boys. We ALWAYS get what we want! GO UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of you Kentucky fans are really arrogant. Maryland may not have the same recruiting prowess that you have, but they still have a top notch basketball program. I understand that the twins are pretty stand-up kids. If that’s the case you may be in for a rude surprise. My guess is that they choose class and style over a program that buys its way to the top.
