After flirting with us a bit and then dumping us in a “it’s not you, it’s me” breakup, Marcus Thornton committed to Georgia today. Thornton had narrowed his list to the Bulldogs, Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Texas before announcing his decision in a press conference from his Atlanta high school this afternoon. The 6’7 combo forward said his relationship with the players at Georgia and with coach Mark Fox were major factors in his decision.
The Mr. Basketball in the state of Georgia was considering Kentucky at one point, but dropped the Cats in fear of being recruiting over in the future. Thornton also said the UK spotlight wasn’t for him. Scared?
See you twice a year, Marcus.
