The rich in 2013 just get richer. In addition to Derek Willis and a host of potential others, California big man Marcus Lee has decided that he wants to see what Kentucky, and fans, are all about. According to Zagsblog:
With an unofficial set for UCLA today (Saturday), Lee has added official visits to Louisville (Sept. 8), Kentucky (Oct. 12 for Big Blue Madness) and Indiana (Oct. 20), his brother, Brian, told SNY.tv. Marcus will also visit Cal unofficially Sept. 1, as previously reported.
Marcus doesn’t have an offer from UK yet, but the interest is obviously there. Cal’s taken different approaches to Madness in the past; last year it was more or less a party for UK’s solidly established class. With 2013 up in the air, the premiere season-opening practice nationwide looks to serve much more as a recruiting tool. It’s one thing to hear about a passionate fanbase. It’s quite another to see it in action at Big Blue Madness, especially coming off of a National Championship. Needless to say, we’re gonna party like it’s 1999. (Warning: Prince)
Lee is a skilled, lanky forward currently at number 27 in ESPN’s 2013 Top 100. At 6’9″, 200 pounds, he allegedly has “an air of Derrick Williams” that’s likely to get coaches and fans in a tizzy. SNY.tv also talked to an NBA scout who says that he was the “[b]est interior player [at the Nike Global Challenge]. Great feel for the game. Needs to get stronger. I’d like to see him be a little more assertive from 15 feet, take that jump shot. He definitely changes everything around the rim. Great passer, great feel.”
Add another thing to be excited about at this year’s Madness.
