Marcus Lee loves Mr. Pickles

USA Today’s Jason Jordan has a fun series over at USA Today’s High School website highlighting the superstitions of the nation’s top high school players. This week, future Cat Marcus Lee revealed his pregame must-have: a sandwich from Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop.

“I have to have a roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard and ranch from Mr. Pickle. Me and my brother came up with this sandwich a few years ago. It’s great. It’s a must before every game.”

Why?

“It’s the kind of sandwich that makes you feel all warm and comfortable inside. Sometimes I get nervous before games, but this sandwich helps me with that.”

Someone open a Mr. Pickles franchise in Lexington, stat!

I’m sure the chefs at the wildcat lounge are already perfecting this sandwich.

Mr. Pickles is the sh!t here in the Bay Area. Marcus knows his stuff. Now we need to get him hooked on Jimmy Johns, but still not even close.

Call these guys the Super 7 when Andrew Wiggins and Julius Randle join the Harrison bros James Young Dakari Johnson and our friend here Marcus Lee! That’s what 7 first round picks sounds like. Or half the lottery, you know Kentucky stuff.

Jimmy Johns has a new special idea for next year: the Marcus Lee Mashup (feel free to come up with a better name.)

Is there a Mr. Pickles in Athens, GA? If so that is where the team should eat thursday before the game.

Just had Mr. Pickles in southern Cali last week for the first time. It’s good but not the best.

Ill say it again…i blame this crappy year on SOME of those guys leaving early…they’re selfish…(jones, lamb, Teague, and some nights MKG). I think they were so competitive with one another that one couldn’t stay in college if the others were going pro…I mean lamb and Teague were late picks!! Even if just they had stayed they would have been lottery picks, gained a lot more experience to prepare them for the league, and likely would have taken us to another championship! Idiots!

I live in the bay area in Northern California and I must say that Mr. Pickles has some amazing sandwiches. We got a good one in Marcus next year!

    14. Such an old argument at this point. People were complaining about the system all season after Wall and Co left and we had a tough regular season on the road. Then we went to the final four, and kept a few guys around from that team, and won a championship a year later. Cal is a smart guy, if those guys are good enough to go, then he sends them on. If they’re not, he holds on to them. You’re saying its selfish of them, but really it’s selfish of Cal and is as a fan base to not allow those guys to go on and make a life for theselves. The University, NCAA, Nike, etc. makes millions off them while they’re in college and they don’t get a dime for it. So I say get out and paid for your hard work as soon as you can. Flip side, if they don’t play well draft stock goes down and they stay another year. Or if they don’t play well and they still go, well we have the recruiting ability to replace them.

Mr Lee along with Kendall Smith are leading the Deer Valley Wolverines to the best season in school history.. They are certainly leaving there mark among Bay Area Hoop legends that include Gary Payton Jason Kidd Leon Powe and Brandon Ashley among others.. Good luck to the Wolves representing northern california in the CIF state playoffs in the upcoming weeks
