Keep up to date with the highlights of the selection show… Keep your fingers, toes, braids, whatever you’ve got crossed…
— 5:48 p.m. Rex Chapman says in the pre-selection show panel discussion, “My Wildcats deserve to be in this tourney…” — 5:52 p.m. Tyler Thompson makes a good point on Twitter: Let’s hope they don’t show the Kentucky basketball team watching the selection show. Could be/would be awfully painful to see that live… — 5:54 p.m. Mark Few on his Gonzaga team’s chances, “They just want to keep playing together as long as possible.” Gonzaga as a real title contender? I still can’t wrap my mind around it… — 5:55 p.m. Bill Self on his team’s mindset right now, “Everyone’s just loosey goosey.” He didn’t say something embarrassing… He just ran out of grown up words. My grandma will be texting any minute now to tell me that he is her favorite coach. — 5:59 p.m. Doug Gottlieb compares Gonzaga to Notre Dame football, “They have the record. They have the reputation. They’re a really good team, but you’re going to tell me they are the best team in the country…” — 6:00 p.m. Air Rid UK football commercial. Thank you, Mark Stoops. — 6:01 p.m. Here we go… — 6:01 p.m. Louisville gets the overall #1 seed. They will be playing in the Indianapolis bracket. Louisville will be playing the first round game in Lexington’s Rupp Arena. Salt. Wound. Ouch. — 6:03 p.m. Missouri gets the SEC’s first bid with a #9 seed. That could set up a regular season re-match w/ the Cards, who thumped the Tigers earlier this season. How Missouri was not a more hotly contested bubble team is beyond me. Two quality wins, 2-8 road record, bad losses. — 6:04 p.m. Duke gets the #2 seed in the same bracket as Louisville. Michigan State gets the #3 seed. Those are arguably two of the tougher 2 and 3 seeds in the tournament. — 6:05 p.m. Middle Tennessee State and St. Mary’s clearly snagged the first bubble team bids. Doug Gottlieb claps and tucks in his … shirt. — 6:07 p.m. The good? Either Louisville or Duke will not be in the Final 4. Bad news? That might have been the sound of Kentucky’s bobble popping… Two “last four in” spots still up for grabs… — 6:12 p.m. Western Kentucky will get a chance to take on the #1 seed Kansas Jayhawks. — 6:12 p.m. Villanova (an on-again, off-again bubble team) gets a #9 seed. Akron also gets the #12 seed. Yikes. — 6:14 p.m. Oklahoma, another team in the bubble talk for the past few weeks, gets a #10 seed. — 6:15 p.m. The SEC gets a 2nd bid with the #3 seeded Florida. — 6:16 p.m. Tubby Smith shouldn’t have shaved the mustache. With that said, his flailing Minnesota team got in the field with the #11 seed, matching up against UCLA in the first round. — 6:18 p.m. Things aren’t looking great for Kentucky. At the halfway point, a number of bubble teams have already heard their names called. None of those bubble teams have come from the SEC. — 6:20 p.m. Doing lunges. — 6:21 p.m. Indiana gets the #1 seed in the East Region. The Hoosiers will not get to play in Indianapolis. I don’t feel bad for them. At all. — 6:22 p.m. Another bubble team, California gets the #12 seed. The Pac-10 is a joke. — 6:23 p.m. Marquette, Davidson, Butler and Bucknell will all be in Lexington. — 6:25 p.m. Illinois and Colorado in the 7/10 match-up. Pop? — 6:26 p.m. One more region to go…. Not feeling good. Not feeling good at all. — 6:29 p.m. Another Air Raid UK Football commercial. It’s like Mark Stoops just knows we need a lift… — 6:30 p.m. Gonzaga gets the final #1 seed out of the west. Remember when they were a Cinderella? — 6:30 p.m. Ole Miss gets the #12 seed. That is the one that could have been ours.
— 6:31 p.m. That’s probably it, folks. Boise State and La Salle get the other play-in game. If the Ole Miss spot wasn’t the one that could have been ours, it was those 2. That game will be as highly attended as the first night of the SEC tournament. Minus the UK fans.
