Madder Than Ever

It’s hard to put tonight into words. Ive seen some Midnight Madness, but I forgot that our head coach is John Calipari.

– Matthew Mitchell kicked the night off by not donig the expected “Gangham style” that most were expecting, rather kicking it old school with MC Hammer. The video is pure GOLD.

Rupp’s floor turned into a 92 ft video screen for introductions. It was something that sent cold chills up your spine and made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I’d take the screen today over the one at Cowboys Stadium.

– Not only does Matthew Mitchell dance, but most of the men’s team does. Archie Goodwin did something really cool. I have no idea what it is called but it was pretty awesome. Nerlens’ flat top smoothin’ will be the next John Wall dance. After Coach Cal was introduced he began by saying, “If we’re in a dance contest, we’re winning.”

– #LaFamilia is Cal’s way. In order to celebrate the fact that we are indeed reigning National Champions, Cal rung in the new year by bringing back members from each National Championship Team. Wah Wah Jones, Cliff Hagan, Vernon Hatton, Adrian Smith, Kyle Macy, Jack ‘Goose’ Givens, Joe B. Hall, Derek Anderson, Ron Mercer, and Jeff Sheppard all helped Cal “re-raise” the 8 banners.A proud moment for all of #BBN.

– I’ll tell you more about what actually happened during the game later, but I’ll tell you this: boy am I glad it’s basketball season.

Out side of our top of our top 6 or 7 Polson looked the best. He looks better then Mays or Hood. I know it’s just a pick up game but he has improved. He played some minutes in some big games his freshman year and didn’t hurt the team. He will never be a big player or see much time. I do think he can come in and give this team some good minutes in a pinch.

I feel like I say this every year but dang that was good. Maybe I’m just getting easier to please in my old age but that beginning was the best I’ve seen in a long while and I loved bringing out the old timers. I don’t know how the young recruits felt about all that but they need a 44 year old out of shape fat man, I’m in.

Well I reckon I watched a different MM. You guys got bored with that??? Really? I’m just spit-ballin but I bet you can take all the other MM’s budget and they would not equal UK’s. Boys it was a flippin scrimmage, what did you want some clowns and a petting zoo? What am I missing here? Some people flat out can not be pleased. As an out of stater, I loved it. If you all find a better first team scrimmage that that would someone please post it cause I’d like to see it.

What I’d really like to know is, why Kentucky’s best h.s. women’s basketball
player committed to PUKE. Kentucky is absolutely putting together a dynasty
of men’s and women’s basketball. Our state can NOT continue to lose our
best players to places like puke. COME ON, MAN!

All that said, ‘love me some Matthew Mitchell at BBM, and am so weary
of people who criticize every little thing Cal/UK do in regards to hoops.
Really? It was boring? Just think. You could be a basketball fan
in Georgia. So please. Soak in the Championship. Soak in the
excitement and hope for the new season. Let the cynicism go.
Life is short. You’re a Kentucky fan. Abandon yourself to
the pure joy of the excellence of this program right now.
It’s okay. Go ahead and smile!!!

I’ve watched UK since about 1988 and this was the first time I’ve seen Hatton,Smith, and Wah Wah. I thankful we have a coach who cares about the history of the program. I’m glad these old timers got the ovation they deserved. This is one of the better Madness I’ve seen in a long time. Hope they hang the banners agian next year with one more on it.

my main concern is outside shooting, including free throws. i know kyle can shoot but that is it. goodwin does not look like he has the form to be consistent from three. we will miss lamb and miller in that aspect. goodwin can slash, alex should be a beast and harrow looks good attacking[not sure how well he shoots}. i am excited to see how these guys come along as the season moves on. hope to see same as last year and this group improve to the level last years team did. would give a us a great shot at #9.

mitchell is another great coach that we have who may be overlooked cause of cal. he has started building what could turn into a UT or UConn type dynasty. he did say he wanted to be here for a long time and I see no reason for him not to be. He relates so well to the players and you can tell they love to play for this guy. He should be able to keep getting top players and keep BBN on top of the basketball world in mens and womens hoops. What a great time right now for all of BBN

My god there’s some morons here. As usual, UK is the needle. Using the entire floor as a video screen was probably the coolest thing we’ve done at madness so far. I look forward to Mitchell’s antics. He did not disappoint. I hope he keeps doing it. I actually think this was one of the better Madness’s i’ve seen. My only complaint is why does the tv production look like it’s done by a bunch of 6th graders and the picture not in HD? It’s been around for over a decade and UK has yet to get with the times. Maybe the same people control the football upgrades.

#27 You’re completely right, today’s recruits would definitely prefer being treated to a chest passing clinic to a hipity hop show. Coach K doesn’t hang out with Jay z and his players aren’t leaving him early, most don’t even leave for the NBA after graduation.

How anyone can negatively critique last night’s BBM is beyond me. You have to be one of two things if you speak negatively of last night, a TROLL, or a JACKASS. It amazes me how some expect these players to be at the top of their game, and they haven’t even started practice yet.

I swear this tread is the special edition. If you did not love the former champions coming out and re raising the banners that many were not present ??? You just might not be a Kentucky fan. I think it was one of the best BBM ever. Besides the conversation about quilting and faceboook that was sitting behind me in section 235.

I think the floor screen was jaw dropping. So awesome!!! :)))))

And for the love of God no fan would even boo Mr. GOOOOOOOOse Givens. Geeeezzzeeee! Some may have an exhaust leak.
