LSU Self Imposes Sanctions

LSU joins the long list of programs with NCAA trouble this year by self imposing sanctions for self reported violations that have been discovered since 2009.  Which really makes you wonder if they don’t wish they could just learn to shut their mouth.  And this comes from a school that has never employed Bruce Pearl or Lane Kiffin.

The violations essentially amounted to improper phone calls, transportation, and the kicker – shared housing between a former coach and a former player.  No big smoking guns, but the same general violations you have seen fall on every program since IU made it cool with Kelvin Sampson.

As far as sanctions go, LSU has stripped itself of two scholarships and limited recruiting trips. AD Joe Alleva had this to say “Our compliance office discovered additional violations during the course of this investigation and took immediate corrective measures to ensure they would not occur again, which is what a good compliance office is supposed to do. I am disappointed that these violations took place, but I am proud of the way that LSU reacted to the situation. We now stand ready to assist the NCAA in the completion of this process.”

I would make a prediction as to whether or not the NCAA will view these sanctions as enough or not, but with the NCAA they will probably take this evidence and rule Enes Kanter permanently inelligible.  So who knows.
