LSU Commitment Considering the Cats

tevin lawson

Some big late news as we approach Signing Day from the Bayou. Tevin Lawson is a 6’4″ 275 pound Defensive Tackle from Louisiana that is currently committed to LSU. He is a 4 star talent and rated as the #21 best Defensive Tackle in all of America. And now Lawson is considering Kentucky. As Justin Rowland of mentioned this morning on KSR, Lawson has been asked to greyshirt at LSU and is now considering the Cats as a possible “play right away” option. Rowland reports this afternoon that Lawson’s high school coach says he may visit Kentucky on February 13th, AFTER Signing Day, due to his interest in the Cats. If so, he will sign with no one on Signing Day and then determine his future after his late visit.

Taking a Louisiana kid from LSU…Stoops does swing for the fences.

Hopefully this string of recruiting by Stoops turns into success. The guy is working his butt off on the recruiting trail and the results speak to the impact he is having in that area. However, recruiting means nothing unless those turn into results on the football field. However thats for next fall so for now I will enjoy this and I have every belief Stoops can make us just as successful on the football field. Go Cats!

We had players to win more than 2 games last season… with the new staff/scheme and energy coming into play I think the results are inevitable. That of course said with the notion that you are not a complete moron and expect a 9 win season out of the gate. I think 5-6 wins is a W in the first season. I will not limit this team to 5-6 though… overly optimistic by nature, I believe until proven otherwise. Go CATS!

Wow, I am so ready for football season to get here!!! Can we get a pack Commonwealth movement going for the Spring game? How incredible would it be to have a packed house for these guys this Spring under the lights?

Don’t forget Elliot Porter, we fed him and trained him for one year then he jumps ship and returns to LSU. Could he have left because of the coaching that he got and he saw the writing on the wall. Let’s hope that Tevin comes and he will be happy here and stick it out.

Taking the last few days to do some research of my own on Rivals I found that the only way for us to absolutely succedd in the SEC is to get atleast 8-10 four star guys and 1-3 five star guys every year. Currently we have 2 four star recruits, that being said this breif research has lead me to begin thinking what Stoops and crew has done is nothing short of remarkable and really cant wait to see what they can do with a full year of recruiting.

The Kentucky Effect hasn’t caught up with Stoops yet, here’s hoping it doesn’t. Stoops thinks he can win big right out of the gate and not look back. Leave nothing to chance. Go Cats!

If you offer to enough top recruits, some that might come for playing time. UK has 2 things to offer a athletic and good player coming out of highschool or junior college. 1. Immediate playing time. 2. A chance to play in second best league in football. (NFL #1)

This is where Stoops can get some decent players. From the oversignees of the big programs. However, Stoops isn’t stealing then away or out-recruiting anyone. The big programs of the SEC are notorious over signers. And now that the conference has passed a rule that teams cannot sign more than 25 players, these teams have to dump players at the last minute. Don’t any of the reporters at KSR understand this? You make it out that Stoops is beating these other programs, when in reality he’s feed off their scraps. Which is what he should do at this point.

I’m really loving these big programs trying to use the grey shirt. As soon as the recruits get offered it they tend to become displeased with that school. And one of the only SEC schools with scholarships available and playing time is Kentucky and “Stoops Scoops ” them right up.

All three of our top coaches last year were horrible football coaches. We automatically get much better simply by them no longer having their mediocrity stamped on the program. I am excited about the new energy not to mention the football IQ of our new coordinators and coach.

Hey UK fans like #22 and 23, have some CLASS and talk about the future and not bash former coaches that dedicated 25 years of their life to UK. Perhaps some of you are not even 25 years old and know that, but either way have some class and shut up about the previous staff. True fans would appreciate it.

I live in Nola and a coworker of min saw Coach stoops at dinner a few nights ago. He is hitting the recruiting trail hard and this is great for the program.
