Rick Pitino is still building relationships in restaurants. Only this time, it was with Brad Stevens at a Starbucks and no tablecloths were stained in the process. The two coaches met for lattes last summer while recruiting and have exchanged letters and Starbucks gift cards ever since. Now, the bromance has blossomed into a friendly rivalry as Louisville announced that it will play Butler in its 2010 home opener at Calorie Court in the KFC Yum! Center.
The Bulldogs and Cardinals will go head to head on November 16 in a game Louisville will regret scheduling when it is blown out in front of 22,000 greasy-fingered Card fans. Butler will likely be a Top 5 team (pending Gordon Hayward’s decision) next season and is looking to schedule more elite non-conference opponents to promote the university.
In other news, the KFC double down sandwich is amazing.
If the Yum! Center offers dual KFC/Taco Bell concessions, I will be a Louisville season ticket holder next season. Sorry, Kentucky.
