Louisville to join the ACC

Enjoy these guys, ACC.

The news just doesn’t stop! This morning, ACC presidents and chancellors voted to add Louisville as its 14th member, replacing Maryland. The conference says it chose Louisville because of its strong football program, elite basketball program, and new geographic market. There was a small bit of resistance due to what the conference perceived as a low academic profile.

Does this mean we get to move the school to the Atlantic Coast, too? Please??

So the ACC is sueing Maryland to collecttheir $50 million exit fee, does that mean the Big East will now sue UL?

I like the addition of UL to the ACC. In 2014, we will have Duke, UNC, NC State, FSU, Louisville, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, etc. By far the best basketball conference in America.

I didn’t realize Louisville had a poor academic reputation. I thought they had a really good law school??

There were no other schools to add. L-ville had to get picked sometime with all the good schools already gone to other conf. they were bound to get picked. Another weak football conf that they should be able to finish 3rd or 4th in just like this year in the big east.

The ACC as we know it today won’t look the same 2014. Basically it will be a merger of the ACC & Big East called the Big Atlantic Coast! UofL is the slut of college athletics. They will jump in bed with anybody anytime and then move on.

This is a great move for Louisville. As a UNC hater it’ll be good to see them and Duke finally have to play some decent teams. As far as academics go, look no farther than UNC’s academic standards, UL should fit right in.

I hope everyone realizes that the major players in the ACC (UNC, FSU and Va Tech) will definitely at some point leave to join the Big Ten/SEC/Big 12. The ACC will evantually just be a hybrid of what once was the Big East. It really doesn’t matter where U of L goes. They are in a tier of schools they will always be in athletically.

Well, is there a Card fan in Louisville that isn’t thrilled this morning ??? Conference Tournies in Charlotte, Raliegh and Atlanta. Home dates with UNC and Duke in Hoops. A home date every other year with FSU in pigskin.I is psyched and I cheers for the Blue.

I have said this about Cal and now will say it about TJ, whatever he is getting paid needs to doubled. They need to name building after this guy. TJ has now raised Lil Brother to be a grown ass man. Lil Brother is still Lil Brother like Eli is to Peyton, but just like Eli… Louisville is now on par with UK.

Theres only 3 safe conferences right now…the SEC (which has the most solid foundation and which is the one most are begging to get into), the Big 10 (which seems the second most stable), and the Pac-Whatever. I believe Cal was right about the 4 major super-conferences. The ACC and Big 12 right now have extremely shaky foundations, and I think one will go the way of the Big East. The question is which one…as much movement as in the ACC right now, that seems to be the choice. Like another person said, Ill be suprised if the ACC doesnt go down a very similar path as the Big East in a few years.

    Will S,

UofL is ranked 164 in America. Prior to them, NC St was the lowest ranking school in the ACC at 104. ACC had the highest average rating of all BCS conferences until adding UofL. They’ve now been passed by the B1G. And the Law school is far behind UK’s, and UK’s isn’t top tier at all.

#44 – I have to think Cal didn’t want UL to be in a position to better recruit those media markets on the east coast, although as members of the Big East they already were. Also, Cards to the ACC adds to the prestige of a program that he has long portrayed as UK’s ugly sister… and I am sure it all somehow has to do with money. 08 – 4th
    09 – 5th

good move for the acc and the tards. the acc is truly a great bball conf now. having said that, the sec is seriously building its bball power as of late, and i look for another 2 schools to enter the sec in the near future. cal was correct a couple of years ago when he predicted that all the conferences would morph into 3/4 mega conferences.

    Louisville Says:
84 ky is a charter member and has one 2 games… Laughable

“one”? really – thanks for solidifying our position on your level of tardness.

The ACC is not going to 16 unless N. Dame is the 16th. N Dame wouldn’t committ to the BE. Do you think they will with the ACC? NOT. ND will be the down fall of the ACC just like Texas to the Big XII. I expect to see the B1G and SEC to take 2 more schools from the ACC or Big XII in the next 2-3 years.

Do they get to keep their line beards, wear KFC buckets on their heads, wear their caps backwards or sideways, serve as much alcohol as you can put away at the games in the ACC? Those things are what count most for UL fans. Oh Yea, they can still be paranoid about UK, no matter what conference they are in.

What Pitino said a year ago about UCONN was true a year ago. Many things have changed and the powerhouses have all bailed from the Big East. Louisville has to get in the ACC now to survive because the Big East has died as a power conference. Louisville is killing it financially. The pack their football and basketball venues and have the largest city tv audience in college basketball tv ratings. They will make $17 million more a year in the ACC. Important variables changed and Louisville reacted. I am a Kentucky guy, but a great story needs a villain. This will keep Louisville relevant going forward and that is a good thing for this great rivalry.

Pitino Presser this time next year:

I believe that replacing UNC and Duke with Temple and Davidson is an equal trade for the ACC.
