Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer stopped by KSR today

Sometimes it takes a Subway to bring two people together, and that was the case this morning when Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer agreed to be a guest on Kentucky Sports Radio radio, finally, during the remote at the new Subway location in Louisville today. Mayor Fischer joined Matt late in the second hour to discuss the Yum! Center’s financial situation, U of L’s alleged stronghold on the city, and the potential of an NBA team coming to the bluegrass. You can listen to the entire interview below:

I hope Jurich pays well because dude is totally on the UL payroll. Jurich might as well run in the next mayoral race.

    1. Ofcourse…. Blah blah bullshit. Passive aggressive dig at UK. U of loserville pretty much runs the city and I’m to pu$$y to do anything about it. More bull$hit. Another passive aggressive dig at UK. More lies. Thank you for allowing me to waste everybody’s time.

The attorney gets owned by the clueless mayor. Sorry, but everytime matt tried to get Mayor Fisher to comment on the arena and smack UL, he just smacked U of K back. Really, UL does not want to play in Rupp arena. This year or any year.

#5 Yeah, because there are not many UofL fans in Lexington. The reason UK wants to play in Yum is to give the Louisville area fans a better opportunity to see a game. If 50% of Lexington were UofL fans I am sure they would want to play in Rupp. Dodging someone’s questions is not owning them.

Great job Matt. Nice to have someone ask tough questions… The Yum Center is in trouble and I don’t want to have my taxes go up here in Louisville. Bring the NBA… Bring the CATS.. Force UofL to negotiate new agreement. Classic KSR you meet the Mayor in a Subway… awesome

Mayor Fisher B!TCH slapped UK in Matts face. Matt, why do you live in LOUISVILLE when you can do your show from anywhere in the state??? Makes you and your fan base look pretty ignorant as well as hypocritical, don’t you think???

Fischer just shows what’s wrong & why nothing will get fixed; his really bad attempt at trying to be cute, avoiding questions, kicking the can down the road. Everyone involved in this mess knows the Yum Center is going to go bankrupt, and no one has the balls to clean up the mess they created giving UL this ridiculous contract.

As much financial trouble the Yum Center is in, they should be begging us to play in the Yum Center. Since taxpayers are paying for this mess, UK taxpayers should just say F You UL & Fischer we’re suing & playing in the Yum Center.

OK, the Yum holds about 20,000 right? So that means the folks who go to the games and hold season tickets are about 10, maybe 15,000. Not that they’re smart enough to know this but do they realize that they’re going to have to paying that center with tax dollars from their Burger King and Wendy pay checks? And once they throw a tax on something (in Indy we still have that .01% restaurant tax from the freaking Hoosier Dome that was built back in the early 80s)they’ll never take it off. Good Luck with that line beards.

#8 You lost to UConn in football at home, get over yourself. You still suck, will never be invited to a National Championship in FB, next year reality is going to punch your small fan base in the face, and UL will still always be a small liberal arts commuter college that no one outside the city limits of Louisville takes seriously.

Thanks, Matt, for exposing this idiot for what he is. At first I didn’t think you should give the guy the time of day, but after listening to his typical U of L bull, I realized that it could end his political career. Most people in “power” have enough class to figure out how to say which team they support without putting down the opposition. When did he shave off his line beard???

    8) typical Line Beard thought process. Always looking behind to see what you’ve accomplished, never looking ahead.
Would you rather be “PRO”active or “RE”active? I’m not a rocket scientist but I’d bet the latter would be my best bet!

Potential criminal activity when the fair board forgave debt owed to taxpayers of Louisville. YUM! Center is one stinking mess created by back-slapping good ole boys. Taxpayers again footing the bill and subsidizing UL athletics. Sad.

You would think that the mayor of a city half of whose constituents are UK fans would have been more diplomatic in his manner. He should understand how angry it makes them that they will and actually are funding the Yum Center every year to the tune of a minimum of at least $6.9 million a year. That amount will skyrocket when the Yum Center defaults. All the time UL is pocketing huge $ from the bogus contract. He should be an easy target next election.

It’s called a damn CHIN STRAP you ignorant slapdicks!

If you are going to try and insult someone, at least do it right. And for the record, the UK fan base definitely has more chin straps being represented than UL does.

Also – a dude was JUST in the news for drugging and molesting women he met on a Christian dating website, what shirt was he wearing in his mugshot? A “respect the tradition” UK shirt!! Haha if you guys want to make fun of UL for having facial hair and drinking whiskey than go for it. I’m glad I don’t associate myself with a fan base full of rapists, rioters, people who threaten teenagers over twitter, and whine and try and boycott a massive company because they had Christian Laetner in their commercial.

You guys are truly pathetic…. Watch out for that big bad Louisville media monster!!! Haha.

#21 – You know what I don’t do? Continually give my rival’s website hits and read and comment and argue with them. Can’t you go on your site and discuss how much better you are with fellow fans?

Let me give you an example to show you how dumb you are – how many Americans do you see going to Afghanistan blowing themselves up because they hate their beliefs?

    I rest my case.

Fischer is a big UL fans and is the political puppet of a few uber rich louisville democrats such as the Browns (of Brown-Forman). Republicans have never had a shot at the Louisville Mayor’s office until Fischer squeaked out a win a few years ago. You would think that he wouldn’t want to piss of 1/3 of the voters here in Louisville who are UK fans.

Fischer didn’t have anything to do with the Yum Center. It opened a year before he became mayor. Which meant it had been in development long before he even thought about running.

To say the mayor and all Louisville politicians are afraid of Tom Jurich is absurd. Jurich negotiated the best deal possible for his employer which was his job. Why chastise him for that? I have heard Matt complain on his show numerous times that u of l has such a good deal in reference to the Yum Center. Why not criticize the former liberal Democratic mayor who negotiated this deal?

UL did not want to move to the YUM. It was ex mayor jerry fudgepacker that offered UL such a ridiculous offer that they could not refuse. UL could not have demanded the crazy financial deal that the city and state gave them. Matt should get Jim Host on and ask him how he backed such a bad business deal.

From a Cat fan living in UL territory. Fischer is a Dem party putz. He won election on the bought votes of the west end. His job is to clean up the horrible mess left by the even bigger Dem party putz Jerry Abramson. Too bad Jerry did not run for governor – would have been great to watch the dirt revealed in public.

#34 is right! The Charlotte Hornets were ready to ink the deal to move to Louisville. The city thought they had an agreement in principle for UL to be a co-tenant in the new arena. At the 11th hour UL had a change of heart and the city got nervous because they thought the arena could not be viable without UL in the deal. George Shin the owner of the Hornets gave Louisville 24 hours to give him an answer about the new arena and they could not convince UL to come back to the table. UL didnt and Charlotte the very next day signed a deal with New Orleans. The arena movement continued but UL bluffed the city by saying they were considering building an on-campus arena (never would happen) and the city fell for it as did the Kentucky State Fair Board and offered the lease deal that UL currently enjoys if they would agree on a downtown location! Pitino also submarines any talk about an NBA team because he wants to be the only show in town. Look at the non-conference schedule for UL games. I would rather watch any NBA team play than the crap teams UL plays prior to their conference. Which this year is just as bad.
