Losing one Julius, adding another?

randle-3goggles

In case you didn’t know — and you should be ashamed of yourself if you didn’t — Julius Randle will announce his college decision at 1:15 ET this afternoon on ESPNU. Rivals.com’s second overall player in the class will pick between Kansas and Kentucky, although Florida and Texas will also have a presence at the hat table. We will have a running diary here on KSR around 1:00ish to feed the hype and poke fun at whoever hosts the recruiting TV special.

Now for a prediction: I won’t say ALL signs point to Randle committing to Kentucky, but there are a hell of a lot more Kentucky signs than signs pointing to Lawrence, Kansas. We’ve heard for quite some time, dating back to his official visit in September, that Kentucky would be the choice and the confidence from Jason Jordan along the same timeline only supports what we’ve heard. I suppose things could always change, and we’ve seen plenty of unexpected reversals late in the process from other recruits in the past, but the fact that Jordan, who is closer to Randle than anyone, is guess it’s Kentucky is very telling.

It will hopefully be a great day for UK basketball after last night’s loss, the lowest point in the Calipari era. And if Randle does pick Kentucky, go ahead and count on UK being the preseason No. 1 team in the country and the overall favorite for the title. Randle is a program changer no matter where he goes, so you can only imagine what it means to add him to what is already the unanimous No. 1 class.

Come on down.

Well, hopefully Julius doesn’t see the constant horrible comments about the team on here or see WCS’s twitter message posted earlier. If you don’t think it could sway his decision, you are very wrong. Recruits do pay attention to things like this and they do get on the internet!
Come on Julius, come play for the true fans of UK! We will support you through good and bad!

Here we go again, we’re touting ourselves as being pre-season #1 and a lock for the national title based an unproven incoming freshmen class. Sound familiar? Keep this up and we’ll lose in the first round of the CBI.

Even if we were to get both Randle AND Wiggins there’s no way a team that lost in the first round of the NIT would be anywhere near the top of the rankings the following year.

Come on Drew, you’re better than this.

UK has known for awhile that Randle is coming to UK and Wiggins is going to FSU. No surprises there for anyone except the clueless talking heads who know nothing.

I heard through the grapevine that he was going to pick Robert Morris. Had a change of heart after seeing the passion following an NIT game.

#9 Signed the 2009-2010 Kentucky team that went 35-3 and were ranked either #1 or 2 throughout the entire season.
Hell, this team would of at least made the NCAA tournament if Noel hadn’t tore his ACL.

15 he had a change of heart seeing the passion following the game? so the court storming is what changed his mind? hmmm…I know you were trying to be clever, but like UK this season, you failed.

Good Lord, people, NO ONE knows for sure until the name of the school comes out of his mouth!! I’ll never forget watching Ralph Samson’s announcement, he was so torn he changed in MID-WORD. “The school I’ll be attending is….Ken-VIRGINIA”. Joe B. Hall almost had the big one at the time.

    1) M. Jones still picking UK (connected UK)
    2) Jason Jordan still picking Kentucky (essentially living with Randle)
    3) Prisbell is picking UK
    4) Randle’s barber is picking UK 🙂 lol

Whay a Florida writer would even know is beyond me. For that to be the case you would have to subscribe to the logic that Randle would tell a Forida writer where he was going before Cal and Self …..which is laughable

Franklin is already backing off his “confident” earlier post. Says here KSR is after all a business so the posts will never give away their secrets. All in an effort to keep us logging on. As much as KSr bashes the “press” they are in the business too!

Hope we get the big guy!

While I love Wiggins and what he would bring, I feel this team could use more of what Randle would bring. We will have a bunch of 2 and 3 position players (that can play) but Alex and Kyle havnt shown themselves to be able to play the 4spot in the manner this team needed/needs. Randle has quicks, strength and handle to go with his size that reminds me of Glen Robinson as a collegian. Regardless, the combination of additional experience and talent should make 2013 a mere blip on our resume. (and heaven help everyone if Noel decides to return)
