Looking Ahead To The Football Season

endzone-celebration

While the trendy pick of the season to to put Louisville on the bottom of the Big East, the SEC East remains a bit of a conundrum.  Tennessee, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt all have new coaches, Steve Spurrier and Mark Richt have been underperforming as of late, and Florida will likely be starting it’s first non-virgin quarterback in the past three years.  That is to say, the SEC is ripe for surprises this year.  So let’s take a look at the Kentucky schedule.

Home games are in bold.

09/04/10 at Louisville

09/11/10 vs. Western Kentucky

09/18/10 vs. Akron

09/25/10 at Florida

10/02/10 at Ole Miss

10/09/10 vs. Auburn

10/16/10 vs. South Carolina

10/23/10 vs. Georgia

10/30/10 at Mississippi State

11/06/10 vs. Charleston Southern

11/13/10 vs. Vanderbilt

11/27/10 at Tennessee

As far as I see it, the only games I would call unwinnable would be at Florida, and likely at Ole Miss.  If we don’t get a win at Louisville, that could set us up for a disappointing 2-3 start.  But if the team can get it turned around, I actually think we have a good chance to win any of the rest of the games, though we will probably drop at least one or two.  The crucial stretch will be the three at home against Auburn, South Carolina and Georgia.  Win two of those, and the season would be great.  Win all three and it becomes a historic season for the Big Blue.

It’s a bit premature to be making predictions, but after looking at the schedule I definitely foresee a bowl game, with potentially eight regular season wins.  And with a bye week before Tennessee… it could be the year folks.
