It’s been a week since we last saw the Cats in action, and the time is finally upon us again. We’ve had plenty of fodder for attacking the Hoosiers this week, from the cocky fans to Coach Calipari and Coach Crean going at it on Twitter. It’s time to put up or shut up and settle it on the hardwood. Be sure to join in on the LIVE BLOG coming at you around 5:00. But first, just a few more notes to lead into tip-off:
— Marquis Teague, you may recall, is an Indianapolis native. He says he expects to receive plenty of boo’s in Assembly Hall.
— This is the first true road game of the season for the Cats, and Assembly Hall will be rocking. Bloomington hasn’t been this excited since Bob Knight was throwing chairs across the court.
— Vegas have the Cats as 6.5-point favorites. Certainly a little more reasonable then when they opened only -3.5.
— Tom Crean was 28-66 at IU heading into this season. The team he has this year, while more experienced, yes, isn’t drastically different than the team he had lose 20 games a season ago. And they don’t have Maurice Creek.
— The Indianapolis Star reports tickets for this game were going for $1,200-$2,200 for floor seats on stubhub.com. That’s kind of ridiculous. Lower bowl seats ranged from $350-$600.
— IU fans have really built this game up on the hype-meter. @NotJerryTipton tweeted yesterday “Lot of hype surrounding the IU/UK game. It’s IU’s biggest game in a decade and UK’s biggest game in a week.” Never has a truer statement been uttered. And if you need reassurance that Indiana really cares about this game, look no further
