Little Brother adds a little brother

Louisville football picked up a transfer this morning. Quarterback Tyler Gabbert has transferred to Louisville from Missouri. Tyler is the younger brother of Blaine Gabbert, the former Mizzou quarterback and No. 10 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Tyler will sit out the 2011 season and have three years of eligibility at Louisville. Or should we say, he’ll play until he gets arrested.

Tyler’s decision to join the Cardinals is an interesting one. He has no ties to Louisville and the roster is pretty stacked with talented quarterbacks. The Cardinals already have Teddy Bridgewater, a highly-touted recruit out of Miami. Maybe Gabbert is just expecting the competition at quarterback to thin out once players start breaking those five core values – no lyin’, no stealin’, no druggin’, no shootin’, and no hittin’ women.

Congrats to Louisville on the new addition and congrats to Mary Jo on being closer to a Gabbert.

“Second Gabbert, Louisville first.”

I am not going to lie, but that is a great pick up for little brother. I used to live in MO and followed most of the recruits. He isn’t that bad.

Anybody know why the podcasts are down? I normally listen to them about this time but the 1080 site is telling me they dont exist and its just a blank box on this site where they normally have them listed.

Committed to Nebraska, then to Mizzou and now Louisville. Poor guy just keeps moving down the ladder. He must not be very good…

If he was at m=Mizzou for a year, then sits out another year how will he still have 4 years left? That’s 6 years of eligibility when you only get 5 (including redshirt). I think he’ll only have 3 years after sitting out 2011-2012 which puts him directly behind Bridgewater his entire career. Smart move, kid.

He only has three years left and he does have ties to Louisville. Current quarterbacks coach at Louisville, Shawn Watson, recruited both brothers at Nebraska.

This is going to make for interesting news for UL. Bridgewater and Stein will get this year to share, more than likely, the QB responsibilities. Next year, Gabbert and Bridgewater will go head-to-head. UL could us a 2-QB system, but it is more than likely that one of these guys is going to miss out. Of course, UL fans like to tout that their new system beats up QBs and it would be rare for one to go through the season without missing time due to injury. Some selling point!!!

Drew, you can’t shuffle posts around and trick us into thinking stories from an hour ago contain new information. This was originally posted around 12:20, I believe, followed by the “nickname Knight” post, then John Wall participating in that retarded planking craze, but then that post was (thankfully) removed and replaced with this one from two posts before. I’m on to you.

Tell him to talk to Mossakowski…see how that worked out for him. However, unlike our coach, he may actually get a chance and get on the field occassionally in case the #1 gets injured or just starts sucking.

Shawn Watson, new QB coach at UL is apparently a family friend to the Gabbert family … So there is in fact a connection.
