Please stop comparing every ACL tear to AP. Please. AP will be the first to tell you that he was the exception, not the norm. Noel has a lot of his side, most importantly youth, and has a great chance of recovering completely. But please stop bringing up AP when we talk about ACL tears.

Kid has no academic problems grade wise…had a 3.7 GPA but his JUCO he was at didn’t offer the class UK said he needed to qualify and he panicked because he has to take it from another school and pay out of pocket which his family cannot afford… ($500+ books). He will get it straightened out… He just panicked and got scared and frustrated and said he was gonna go to division 2 school… Sometimes I wonder if SOME KSR journalists do any research at all…outside of twitter…

I have to agree with Matt, before Cal ever got here, I was unsure about him, but now that he is here and I’ve learned more about him and what kind of guy Coach is, he is AWESOME, the BEST COACH we have had in a LONG TIME. Cal care SO MUCH about his players and he cares a lot about UK Basketball. I have all the respect in the world when it comes to Coach. I know what he says is GOLDEN, he knows what is up, He is on top of this game. He knows what it would take to fix this 1 and done thing, the conf. re-alignment thing, I mean, the man KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, all the rest are just HATERS.

G-Unit, I used to play volleyball with a guy who tore his ACL and never got it repaired. He wore a knee brace, and just didn’t want to deal with the down time and rehab from the surgery. He said once the pain of the initial injury subsided it wasn’t really painful, but it was unstable – hence the brace. Now the old-man’s volleyball that we played was a far cry from D1 basketball, but regular folks do have the option of going through life without getting it surgically repaired.

If Nerlens is projected as a lottery pick this year, I don’t see why he would come back to UK next year. You run the risk of yet another injury or simply is not able to play as good as he did this year, which would lower his draft status further. People keeping talking about how well AP did in football with his recovery, but that is an exceptional recovery not the normal recovery time.

Nerlens Scored 10 ppg, plus 4 blocks which is 8 points, he effects AT LEAST 10 shots which is 20 points

So Nerlens is responsible for nearly 40 points a game…

People forget that constantly going for blocked shots gives up a TON of weak side baskets. This could change the complexion of our defense completely.

IF they could pull a 1-3-1 zone off, where they trap on the wings, that would be PERFECT… but a zone requires more communication, and rebounding is harder and we already struggle enough….

    but theoretically it sounds good…

A little perspective everyone, please. None of us have even the first clue how the team will respond going forward. We think we know based on past results, but this is a new season and a new team now. Simply subtracting 40 points because Noel is gone is 1st-grader logic.

#117… Absolutley right. So many times you’ll see Noel go after a block, miss and the ball ends up in the hands of a weak-side opponent who gets an easy layup. That’s why we give up so many offensive rebounds every game.

Serious question: will we find by the end of the season if some of these guys don’t change their attitudes and buy in, that Sean Woods may have been correct with his comments earlier in the year? I love the Cats, but some of these guys seem like the Kentucky pride is not there.

I agree that the logical choice for Nerlens would be to take the money this year and go with the draft. But there may be an emotional component in it for him too. He has obviously demonstrated a love for UK from the start – how many one-and-done players go around with their school’s name shaved into their hair? How many go to the trouble to visit sick kids and nursing homes? Nerlens is a different kind of Cat, and he may just be genuinely enjoying basking in the adoration of BBN. Once you go to the pro’s, all of the intangibles that you get with the college basketball experience are gone. It’s a job at that point. Yes, it may be wishful thinking, but some kids are not as worried about the NBA money.

Do you think there’s anything to read in what Cal told Noel about rehab/coming back next year? To me it’s no brainer. You go to NBA! Don’t risk ur injury in college. If you reinjure it in NBA, you can atleast get paid. I would never expect Cal to say this unless he thinks Wiggins is sleeping away. What do you all think?

I really feel we gotta find a way to get more three pointers for Mays. The kid has been on fire lately and has clearly found his shot over the last couple weeks. He needs to be launching at least 8,9, or 10 threes a game.

In 2009, Patty Mills of St. Mary’s led his team to an 18-1 start but got injured in the second half of the season and didn’t return until the conference tournament. When he did return, he was very rusty and struggled with his injury. The Gaels (obviously deserving of an invite with a healthy Mills) were left out of the dance due to their star player’s questionable status.
