Did everyone else have an amendment to vote for related to hunting/fishing on their ballots?!? Sounds like a great topic for the flag-bearers of Dept. of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.

It was very strange. It was like, “Do you believe there should be an amendment added to the KY constitution that says everyone has the right to hunt and fish.” Is that a work around to felons owning guns? I didn’t understand what they were trying to accomplish. Who (other than felons) isn’t allowed to hunt/fish?

If we hire him and he gets caught violating major rules (which he has done everywhere he has been), we will be hammered by the NCAA simply because we hired the guy during the show cause period. Not worth it-he would only win 4-6 games a season at UK, and there are far less risky options that would do the same.

While I hate to be critical, yesterday was the first time ever I didn’t enjoy the show. There were multiple callers who were not happy with Mitch’s manner of letting Joker go. Matt, you jumped on them & refused to let them explain, even going so far as challenging them in a way to make them sound ignorant. There is a clear & specific reason why people are mad a Mitch about this & other things: lack of leadership. He needed to speak to the BBN & tell them he was making a change. He also needed to make it clear HE WOULD FIX THIS. He needed to lead. A memo on a website is not what you expect our of a leader. It instead left a lot of the BBN worried about the leaderhip, and guts for that matter.

Rixter — Division-I college basketball is big-time competition. Bellarmine’s coach doesn’t care because he wants his team to be exposed to that level of play. It will do nothing but help as they will see no competition like that all season. Also, if Kentucky just quits playing hard then that would be pointless for Matthew Mitchell’s squad. If you’re going to quit playing hard because you got a big lead by halftime then why even play the second half? College coaches aren’t in the business of wasting time — especially game time when you’re preparing for big games like the UK Hoops team has coming up.

No matter how many names fans throw out there, the coaching search is going to come down to three names. Sonny Dykes, Kirby Smart, and Mark Helfrich.

Mitch may swing at the fences on a few names like Rex Ryan or even Herm Edwards (who I’ve got to admit I didn’t think about but I agree he would do an unbelievable job) but in the end its going to come down to those first three.

I would be shocked if it wasn’t one of them. Mitch knows how big this is and he’s going to throw some serious money out there. If I had to guess I’d say Sonny Dykes is the next coach at UK with Neal Brown as his OC and probably a solid DC/recruiter to go along with it.

    211) If I’m not mistaken there’s a lot of problems with UK and Sonny Dykes’ current OC. I’m guessing he’s talking to Neal Brown since he is also a Leach disciple. I can’t imagine Dykes would have issues with Brown being the OC. Brown would like to come back to Kentucky and I’m sure he’d get a pay raise so I can definitely see him coming along as OC, especially since he runs the same offense as Dykes.

Dykes will be the next head coach though unless Kirby Smart asks for 3 or 4 million and Barnhart gives it to him.

College and pro are two completely different animals.

When I was leaving my polling place this morning, I saw an WLEX-TV employee in this gaudy tan jacket with a huge NBC logo on the back. I thought it would be a news crew doing a little piece or something, but lo and behold, when he turned around, it was old Rob Roy himself.

    362) Calling him cowardly, questioning his manhood, questioning his integrity. I’d say those types of statements from his employer, and his players give you some idea about how he conducts himself.

There are middle school coaches in this state more experienced and qualified than the coach at Wayne County LOL.

347 I dont know what to tell you man…Petrino’s career would be better off sitting next year out than taking a job with a tradition of ruining its HC’s career…he will wait for a job he wants…UK is not that job…that being said, I do believe Mitch will feel him out because that is his job.

Bottom line, I don’t have faith in Mitch to make a great football hire. Sorry for using the b-word (Matt used it twice yesterday) but that’s what people will be doing when we lose with the next avereage or bad coach Mitch brings in. If Mitch doesn’t go ‘all in’ on Petrino then why even care about this coaching search?
