2 years ago today we lost the greatest wrestler ever and now a guy who sorta sounds like him calls in from to time on KSR so Matt can hang up on him. Everybody needs to honor Macho Man Randy Savage by picking up a Slim Jim and watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53hiHAkK6KA

There is only one Dalai Lama–at a time anyway. When his corporal body passes, he will eventually reincarnate. It is usually an interesting process leading to the discovery of his reincarnation. In a nutshell, the purported reincarnated Lama is subjected to an examination through which he reveals truths about his past incarnations that only the true Dalai Lama would know.

The Queen stayed at one of the horse farms with a family she had a relationship with. The Dali Lama is a hereditary position. I saw a piece on 60 minutes a few years ago about a young boy they have already picked for the next Dali Lama and they took him very young from his family to start his training. When the president stays at a hotel they take over several floors with security so no one can get near him.

bought an atlas before a road trip a couple years ago, ended up using it way more than GPS. helps with alternate routes, many of the more remote locations we were in weren’t in the GPS system, saved battery power, and when we were caught in bad weather or outside strong service areas, the thing was a lifesaver. plus it gives you a great sense of “place” and is fascinating to flip through.

There are still places in this country where your Garmin will not work, Google maps will leave you at the end of a dirt road in a holler, your cell phone has no reception, and those are the times that you are thankful to have an old school atlas.

BTW, Does anybody know where you can download funny voices for your Garmin? I was wanting to put an angry Samuel L Jackson voice on my buddy’s Garmin last year but couldn’t find it. It would be even better if it started yelling at you after you made a wrong turn.

Rupp is a legend but in all likelihood, Rupp would probably be along the lines of Jim Laranega or something. The game has changed, the players have changed, and today’s game is simply that much better. To be truthful, this past years team would probably smoke any team that Rupp had. Like you say, it’s no disrespect to Rupp. He has deserved all of his accolades but times have changed and so has the game.

Our fans deserve more credit. Most of us can tell the difference between a well-coached team and a poorly-coached team, even when the talent is low. The majority of fans will not be upset if the team is losing while playing hard, executing, and improving. Our fans were giving up on Joker early on because we could tell he sucked. Most of us knew that before a lot of the talking heads and writers.

    Matt,

Everyone thinks we’re going to be terrible because we went 2-10 last year but we went 2-10 with a God awful coach, injuries to our starting QB, and a ton of freshmen.

Our offensive and defensive schemes were terrible so we’ve got to quit just assuming the players are terrible and start realizing while they weren’t world beaters they were not as bad as injuries and schemes made it appear.

Sure we had a tough year but with the exception of our O-Line we should see improvement in every single unit on the team.

D Line is better (return 2 starters and replace Ukwu and Wyndham with Zadarius Smith and Bud Dupree)

LBs are better (Return all starters except Dupree is moving to DE)

DBs are better (We return all of our rotation guys and add a healthy Faulkner, McWilson, JUCO Nate Willis)

O-Line is maybe a little worse but not a huge drop off.

QBs are better (Max Smith is healthy and Whitlow is a year ahead of where he was)

WRs will be better. (all the young guys return plus Juco Javess Blue, Timmons, Montgomery, and Badet)

RBs will be better. (Clemons is healthy, Sanders and George a year older, and we have Kemp coming in)

TEs can’t be worse (Robinson, Shields, Aumillar return and we added Borden)

Kicker probably stays about the same (we lost McIntosh who was very inconsistent last year and added the #3 kicker)

Punter will be equal or better (Foster returns to make a run at the Heisman)

I think the argument against guys “like Lebron” playing in the days of Oscar Robertson is that while they are more athletic, they are not as skilled.

Imagine guys not being able to jump stop, palm the ball, set moving screens, etc. like they can today.

It was a very different game.

  228. J A Brooks

    221) no he wouldn’t.

He would still be really good but the dude played against 6’7 and 6’8 Centers and the dude was 7’1.

Russell is considered the other greatest center ever but he was barely 6’9. People just weren’t that big and athletic back then so the big athletic guys that were around simply dominated.

Lebron James is bigger than Bill Russell. How could anyone have guarded a guy like that back then when he was bigger faster and stronger than teams Centers and handeld the ball better than their guards? He wouldve murdered guys back then.

Jerry West couldn’t guard the 10th man on todays NBA rosters
