1 – I agree and MY reason is this. I watch it pretty close and usually Cal knows before we do, and you will notice him recruiting a PG or SG letting you know that maybe he is unsure of whether or not UK will land them and also letting that player or players know that hey good luck but we move on.

The new ESPN 30 For 30 “Broke” about the pitfalls and financial failures of countless professional athletes was a very interesting and fascinating documentary. A must-watch for any young athletes in high school, college or the pros. What are some of the previous “30 For 30” episodes you thought were the best? My favorite episodes were “The Two Escobars,” “Pony Express,” and “The U.”

Lets just start a rumor back at Maryland that the Harrison Twins Father just bought a HORSE FARM IN LEXINGTON. How is that. It’s whatever, they can say what they want, but if they come which I think they will, great, if not, yeah it hurts, but Cal moves on. If the kids want to go to Maryland and play ok ball, then so be it. 1 of the twins will have to compete wit hDez Wells for time anyway. Dez might not start but he WILL get a lot of minutes ,so good luck with that. But their dream has always been to play for Cal, why throw it away now.

I don’t feel sorry for anyone who wastes $110 million. The NFL/players’ union gives seminars on financial responsibility and planning. Once the Harrisons commit to UK, do the dominoes start falling rather quicky with the best players wanting to secure their spots at Kentucky? That way, the other coaches can then fight over those players who don’t make the cut at UK

139 — It was a bar that sold crappy food. Nothing more, nothing less. I am a Louisville resident and as big a UK fan as you can find and I never once stepped foot in that place. I don’t need to go to a bar that is far away from my home just to hang out with UK fans or to watch UK games. I don’t really get why people think that the Big Blue Country not making it indicates anything special. The fact is, it is hard to succeed as a sports bar in a world filled with Buffalo Wild Wings.

Too bad they can’t have an NBA exhibition game at the Yum Center to see how many people it would draw. If Jurich and Pitino were so sure that it would’nt fly they would allow that to happen. NBA players would mean too much competition for Rick with the women who go after rich guys in Lousiville.

  160. James K

Nike may not be the SOLE (pardon the pun) reason that kids go to a school, but they definitely have a share in the game. Ryan, these shoe companies get on the kids early and try to funnel them in Nike/Adidas/Reebok programs so they can sign them once they become pros. It’s all a part of the puzzle.

Kentucky being affiliated with Nike DOES make a difference, albeit not the whole reason.

What is truly sad is that parents want to CONTROL their children’s life rather than advising them. Surely, Mr. Harrison has raised his sons well and they are capable of making a decision on their own.

I used to hang out at the location of Big Blue Country back in the day when it was known as The Brewery. I played volleyball across the street, and that used to be the big hangout for many of the volleyball players. There was another bar next to it called “Side Out”. At some point they expanded and added what was going to be an indoor sand volleyball court, and then they figured out that they could make more money having bands and DJ’s in there – thus they started calling it the “ThunderDome”. Eventually The Brewery closed, and eventually reopened as BBC. Keep in mind that sports bars and restaurants are notoriously short lived in Louisville. There is a lot of competition, and a new bar will be the hot hangout for a year or two until another place opens / reopens and sucks the crowd away. There have been a lot of other bars in this area that have closed over the years. Louisville already has enough UK fans spread out over the city that one UK themed sports bar closing is not indicative of how a pro basketball team would be supported.

Nothing says creepy like Fb requesting people you don’t know to check out their girlfriend…

I’m really hurt to hear about Coshik. I thought that kid had worked really hard throughout his career and had started to look like a big-time player this year. He played fantastic against Louisville. He was by far the fastest running back we had. I believe he can make it in the NFL with the speed and strength he has. We’ll just have to wait and see. God Bless ya Coshik!
