Lexington loves basketball? Who would have thought?

This was released about two weeks ago, so some of you might have seen this, but it’s new to me and this site, so I’m going to throw it up here.  In conjunction with the Final Four, The Media Audit, a research company out of Texas, studied cities across the country to determine which contained the best market for college basketball.  Not surprisingly, Lexington topped the list, just as it did when it was released previoulsy in 2006.  Compared to a national average of 35.8%, the study found that 65.7% of adults in Lexington follow college basketball.  That’s an 83% higher than the national average.  Here are the cities that make up the top 20

1.  Lexington (65.7%)
2. Raleigh-Durham (61.8%)
3. Louisville (60.8%)
4. Tucson, Ariz. (58.5%)
5. Columbus, Ohio (56.5)
6. Cincinnati (55%)
7. Columbia-Jefferson City, Missouri (53.6%)
8. Eugene-Springfield, Ore. (52.9%)
9. Syracuse, N.Y. (52.9%)
