I keep watching that GIF and it’s great to watch over and over. Keith Kelsey to the cards… But I still think UK will get Jason Hatcher. Still waiting to hear the John Short WLAP promo. I hope you haven’t lost any of the 20 affiliates. Your promos were a lot better!!

Please ask Gottlieb what it was like to work with a clown like Digger. And, how does Digger and Bobby Knight continue to have their jobs at ESPN. They add NOTHING. Not sure either of them know what century we are in.

    Projected Recruiting Class:

    QB (1) – Reese Phillips

RB (2) – Jojo Kemp / Khalid Thomas

WR (4) – Javess Blue / Jeff Badet / Alex Montgomery / Ryan Timmons

    TE (1) – Steven Borden

OL (3) – Ramsey Meyers / Justin Day / Kyle Meadows

    K (1) – Austin MacGinnis

DL (7) – Jacob Hyde / Alvonte Bell / Za’Darius Smith / Regie Meant / Jason Hatcher / Jarran Reed / Corey Smith

    LB (2) – James Hearns

DB (4) – Blake McClain / Jaleel Hytchye / Nate Willis / Marcus McWilson

Matt, I agree with how annoying that call on Mays was. If you take a look back at that play, you will see his elbow actually doesn’t hit the LSU player. It was his bicep/tricep area into which the defender’s head moved. If that play doesn’t happen, UK is rejoicing for a 15 pt win over the LSU.

    Sorry
coach (assuming you are reading/writing these columns), you can NOT use
the young rationale. This is YOUR plan of handling teams every year. If
we cannot turn them around in one year every time then we need to stop
overloading on the 5* and include long term players as well in the mix.
We need to quit forcing players not ready for the NBA just because they
can be drafted on potential alone like a Orton, Teague etc. Five gifted
individual athletes every year is not the same as a seasoned team year
after year. We struck gold with the right mix last year but there was a
Miller in the mix as well. From this point on it is 100% your way of
running the program….the fans do not lack passion or patience. But
they are not dumb. They are able to see the drastic overhaul of this
powerhouse from household names to a revolving door. NCs
are nice every year and it is the same expectation as Duke, Kansas and
UNC etc as well and they happen to be in the mix pretty often as well,
so this is not some irrational expectation from a program of the stature
of UK. Nick Saban does not get a pass to miss a Bowl game next year
either. Yes, the job with recruiting has been fantastic but this is not
some second rate program. It has top notch tradition, facilities, fan
base and exposure to make the “sale” to a recruit a lot easier than
    most colleges.
I hope the young players develop, and develop
quickly. I fully understand THEIR position in the grand scheme of
things. The question is whether the scheme of things needs to be re
evaluated by The Grand Poobah going forward. If there was not a NC last
year, there would be no end to the talk about the failure of the one and
done system in the college world. We bought time with that ring but
    only for so long….

Everybody wonders why offense is down in college basketball. Look no further than rules like that elbow rule and the block/charge call and you have quite a bit of your answer. When the offensive player can’t have his own space and anytime they drive they’re in danger of somebody sliding over in front and drawing a charge on them and you see why it’s hard to play offense.

FYI, UL beat UCLA the very next game that year I think.

Kentucky was unable to halt the UCLA comeback due to 3 turnovers in the game’s final 4 minutes: 1) Tony Delk simply handed the ball over to J. R. Henderson in the backcourt (on a bad bounce), 2) McCarty didn’t catch a pass from Epps when neither was being pressured, and 3) Rhodes threw a pass to Mark Pope which bounced off Pope’s knee, with 18 seconds remaining in the game and UK leading 81-80. Henderson was fouled as he tried to make the final shot, and he hit 2 free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining in the game.

From John Scott’s site about that UCLA game:

In the end, Kentucky was unable to halt the UCLA comeback due to 3 turnovers in the game’s final 4 minutes: 1) Tony Delk simply handed the ball over to J. UK passed the ball in to Rhodes near midcourt, but Rhodes bobbled the ball and could not get off a shot as time expired.

“The final moments were set up by UCLA’s trap defense, when Marquis Burns and Henderson forced Rhodes, deep in his backcourt, to fire a pass that caromed off of the knee of Mark Pope and out of bounds, giving UCLA the ball with 16.5 seconds remaining and Kentucky up by one.”

Matt, this whole “you have to wear blue or we are going to embarrass and criticize and terrorize you” smacks of marxist political correctness. I personally hate Tennesse Orange and I think that it is dumb to be a UK fan and wear orange to the game, but if the lady wants to pay her money and wear whatever she wants, then you should respect her individual liberty to do so. I think that a much bigger problem in Rupp are empty seats in the lower level of Rupp, and people who do not cheer at all or support the team when sitting in the lower seats. I think that we should be appreciative of fans who show up in Rupp to cheer for the team and pay huge amounts of money for those seats, thereby giving the program the money it needs to be a successful Basketball program.
