Let’s Talk About It (Monday Show Thread)

The only way we can move forward is to come together and talk about that Saturday night in Bloomington, Indiana. Putting it behind us won’t be easy, but with a group effort, I think we can all rebound from the devastating loss. Matt and the gang will be on your radio devices this morning to talk about the game, what went wrong, and what it means in the grand scheme of things. Feel free to call in and pour your heart out at (502) 571-1080.

Topics include:

— It hurts.

— Kentucky is still very good at basketball.

Putting Jones quitting on us? No sir, even if we hang banner 8…that will NEVER be forgotten -especially when he had a chance to come clean and offered that twitter crap.

    Matt,

A hostile environment, nothing out of T. Jones, Davis in foul trouble, Teague having the worst half of the season, bad no calls, IU on FIRE from the 3, and it still took a last second 3 to beat us? We’re not a good team, we’re a great team.

Cal has said, in the past, that the Wall/Cousins team would have been better off losing a few of the games they pulled out because it would have taught them something. Cal has also said that the losses the Final Four team took helped them in March. Saturday = Learning experience.

Let’s talk about those stupid ass Fatheads. Those things are totally obnoxious, and a total disruption behind the goals (which I guess is the point). But if that’s going to be allowed, why not have naked women standing back there or the student section aiming guns w/blanks that they shoot at you while you’re taking the shot. But if this is where this is going then we need both ends behind the goal to be student section, and they’re are going to need more than a Nike banner and a couple dudes dressed like spiderman to disrupt the other team.

I hate to lose, but I saw a lot of good to take out of it. We almost won the game with Jones and Davis not being factors and IU raining crazy threes. Everytime IU pushed it to the “danger zone” of 10 points or so, Cats would rally. Sucks to lose, but some good things to take away from it. When you have tradition, you act like you have won something before. Save the court storming for places like Ole Miss or Miss St when they beat teams with tradition. Terrence Jones is slowly becoming my least favorite UK player ever, and that takes a lot. The name on the front of the jersey says KENTUCKY. UK basketball was great before Jones and it will be great after Jones. You could see it on the camera. He was the only player not standing and clapping. Go ahead and become a free agent now if you’re here for Terrence. I love all Kentucky players, but that is absolutely inexcusable!!! Regardless of hype or ranking, you play for the name on the front!! There’s a reason we have the greatest tradition in college basketball.

Cal always wants to use youth as the excuse for mistakes–in this game, it was not fouling. Well then how about you use your last timeout after Lamb’s FT make and be sure everybody knows what to do? Not only that, but it would’ve prevented Indiana from throwing the ball inbounds to Jones with momentum going toward their end of the floor. A major tactical error that lost us the game even with everything that went on. The players are inexperienced, the coach is not–Cal should take ownership for making a strategic mistake there.

172..I disagree. He has had moments in the now 2 years that he “isn’t there” but he tried just enough to grab 3 or 4 rebounds. It takes effort to get more than 1 board.

Jone just plain jogged and moved his feet when he was in there. His run the floor layup was something he could do in practice as he used his left hand. On his 1 board it bounced straight to him.

He quit this entire game. It will not be forgotten especially from fans of the blue for over 30 years. Effort doesn’t cost anything.

He claims how shitty of a town Bloomington is, even though the IU campus and Bloomington in general are ALWAYS ranked in the top 5 of beatiful college towns/campuses in the country and one of the most liberal cities in the midwest. He was also claiming that Assembly Hall was filled 10% with UK fans. HA! My friend and i attended the game Saturday, had midcourt lower seats, and got there right before the player introductions. and thought we would have a great experience due to the past experinces there as most previous interactions with Indiana fans have been positive for the most part. our seats unfortunately were in the last row of “regular” fans with the student section right behind us. the student section was a total embarrasment to the 2 70 + year old ladies with their 12 year old grandaughter next to us with constant cursing, chants of assholes directed at teh two of us for cheering for UK, as well as several smacks and flicks to our heads throughout the game. if the administrators for IU had my seats, they would have witnessed how classless their student body is and what an offense they are to the University and the majority of the rest of their fan base. the lack of a presnece of security in the student sections was surprising as well after a few verbal altercations between us. it goes to show how long Indiana has been out of it and proves they dont know how to handle a big game and win with dignity as a university with so much supposed tradition and basketball knowledge is supposed to.

    stay classy indiana….

206 — I fully agree we should have brought 3/4 court pressure. But completely disagree that you just put one defender on the guy inbounding the ball and have the other 4 back. I said potentially get numbers, because of spacing and rotation issues that happen with 4 guys vs 5. Give me 5 on 4 rather than than 4 on 4 any day of the week. You don’t pressure the inbound pass with 6 seconds to go in the game. There’s way too much time to do that. You guard the inbound when there is only time for a catch and shoot.

WORST FANS EVER!! NOT EVEN CLOSE. MAKES USC lite and UL fans look tame. They have so much HATE for UK fans. Only one expample of too maany, Ran into a line beard ( the only one there ) and he told me hated UK 2 times because he was both an IU and UL fan. THe line beard was very telling and made a lot of sense.

Like I said..This was not an upset!! The fans rushed the court to give Coach Crean a new pair of D Wade underwear. He made a poo poo.

Updated rankings haven’t been released yet, but is there a chance that Louisville could be ranked ABOVE Kentucky when they visit Rupp? It will make that victory much, much sweeter. Keep dreamin’ Cards fans.

Hard for Terrence Jones to score a basket if he can’t hold on to the ball. Seemed like he fumbled nearly every time he touched the ball. Must have been that “slick” Adidas ball they were using.

We still beat Kansas and NC. Expected more out of the team since cal had them to himself for a full week. Matt Jones needs to come off his comments about Crean not being a good coach……..

It was so loud Saturday they couldn’t get plays called in first half, and during the player intros Lamb didn’t even hear his name called. My ears literally were hurting Sunday morning.

Problem isn’t shooting the threes it’s defending the threes. We only shot 7 threes but IU hit 9.

Just visited the KSR store. Mostly good stuff, but aren’t commemorative t-shirts for championships, not #1 rankings and regular season victories? These things shouldn’t be a pleasant surprise. Just my opinion.
