If you watched All-Access or live coverage of UK’s practices, Calipari seems to use Polson as a motivator for other players like when he’s talking to Harrow “You just got outplayed by HIM (Polson)!”, or “If you can’t take HIM (Polson) where you want to go, you can’t do this job here.”

Does this take away Cal’s secret motivational factor, because we all saw, HIM (Polson)! is pretty darn good! Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

Taking a job at Auburn, to me, would be difficult. You have to play Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi St. every week. At UK you have to play Florida and South Carolina….. IF Petrino can get the same talent at UK as he could at Auburn, then he would take this spot. He has a better chance to get to the SEC championship in the east.

What people fail to realize, is that its not about him cheating on his wife or being a jerk. Mitch Barnhart would be hiring a guy that subjected his former employer to multiple lawsuits. A sexual harrasment lawsuit and many discrimintions lawsuit from the people who were passed over for job that Petrino’s girlfriend got.

Now you add that to the fact that Petrino is a jerk and a guy that cheated on his wife and that moves him further down the list than people who dont have to work with him or worry about lawsuits want to admit.

Barnhart is the best AD that UK has had in my life time. Every program is doing well or great. He has hired Cal who has put us on top of the mountain of basketball. With Summit retiring Matthew Mitchell has UK in position to a perinial SEC contender. All of the other “Olympic” sports are doing very well on a consistent basis. And Mitch hire Rich Brooks, the man that brought the most consistent success that football has had in my lifetime.

Joker was a mistake. We know that now. But it was a hire at the time that made sense and was worth the risk at the time. If Joker had been succesful, he would have stayed UK until retirement. Something that UK has little chance to have with any other coach.

It didnt work. And now he has to make the next hire. I have complete faith in Mitch that his next football coach hire will be a good one. Come to grips with the facts people and you will come to the same conclusion.

Mitch “hired” Joker which was a major failure so shouldn’t he rebound with another home run here? Not saying it’s what will happen, but it’s funny how quickly people use that type of logic to justify their previously held belief but won’t apply it otherwise.

Cats fans are looking at the Petrino hire all wrong – we should see this as an opportunity to take advantage of him. If we hire him, we’ll have 2-3 seasons of good football and then he will leave for greener pastures – but we will be in a much better position to hire a good long-term coach who is eager to take over a program on the upswing.

I also wouldn’t mind if he went Tennessee, those poor schmucks think they are a destination job, but Petrino would definitely Lane Kiffin them after a few good seasons, and it would be hilarious.

I don’t know if you guys “get it” regarding Quick, but this guy is an elite of the elite type of player. He is a program changer (like Randall Cobb) and a someone who is so good that the fact that he says he may very well go to UK w/ Petrino makes that hire over-the-top appealing (as if it isn’t already very appealing). Seems like we had a lot of rebounds that we were in position to grab, but could not corral the ball — I saw at least five of them slip through players hands. Also, I recall last year’s team having some early rebounding issues on the defensive glass, simply because out inside players were all going for the block instead of blocking out. This is a gamble, and when they don’t get the block and the shot is missed, the offensive team has the advantage for the rebound. Cal made some adjustments to correct this issue last year, and I am confident he will again make the necessary changes for this year’s team. GO CATS!

    346) Kyle Wiljer went out, the score was 38-53 UK. Maryland went on a 15-0 run. Wiljer returned 5-6 minutes later, made a 3 pointer to give UK the lead at 56-53. That’s why he’ll see 20+ MPG.

#355 Aren’t most QBs having to scramble from Bama’s D this year? A&M can put up points and it all stems from Kingsbury. Look at Houston’s numbers when he was there and now they’re having success with the offense in the SEC. I think he would be a good hire.

That said, I think if you can get a proven winner in Petrino, you take him.

I’m not taking anything from Kingsbury he called a great game, but the threat of the QB taking off slows down the pass rush, so I do have to give Kingsbury credit for understanding what he has to work with and taking full advantage of it. With all this being said if Bamas QB doesn’t short arm the pass on the goal line we’re talking a differnt outcome. Great game with some great players, sure was fun to watch.
