Let Oscar Combs tell you about John Calipari and Rick Pitino

One Dead Person: Oscar Combs on Calipari V. Pitino from Rory Owen Delaney on Vimeo.

You’re looking at a trailer for “Red v. Blue,” the upcoming documentary about the Kentucky vs. Louisville rivalry. In this teaser, our favorite UK historian, Oscar Combs, opens up about the chilly relationship between John Calipari and Rick Pitino. A teaser of the teaser? Oscar says that if one of the coaches was drowning and the other was the only one there to witness it, they might leave them for dead.

Harsh. But probably true.

Hey, they both hung a banner for us.
    Nuff’ said.

Man, I’ve never seen that video clip of that interaction of Cal and Pitino. Interesting. To me, it was small indication of the stress Cal gets when he has to go against Pitino. He always talks about it “being just another game”, but you know Cal wants to beat Rick more than he wants anything in his life.

One has hung a banner for our most hated rival, said leaving UK was the best thing that ever happened to him (also said it was a mistake), had 15 seconds of fame, and got the ugliest tattoo you can get…… Nuff said?

Don’t worry about Pitino drowning after the first 15 seconds he wouldn’t be able to go down again. Agree with all that stuff written by “Down with Pitino’s jersy Says”.

Ridiculous that Oscar would write that. Of course they hate each other, but leave them to drown? And no those two are NOT bigger than UK-UL. Oscar needs to retire before he gets even more senile than he is.

Making matters worse, Pitino recently got that ‘do not resuscitate’ tattoo on his back.

Poor Oscar. Has he now resorted to this kind of crap?

That’s pathetic and not accurate. They have a healthy rivalry, yes, but behind the scenes there is genuine love and certainly professional respect. There is no hate or bitterness whatsoever from either man, and I am in a position to know.

    11) I’m sure you have more access to the program and these two coaches then Oscar? You do realize Oscar has made his self a millionaire covering UK! Oscar has forgotten more about UK sports then you will ever know!

Rick Pitino is, and will go down in history as a UofL Coach.

Time to let it go guys….he is a defector, a traitor to the BBN, and a caricature of what he once was.

Oh, he is still a good coach…….but he is a UofL Coach for all eternity.

Banners hanging from Rupp should be reserved for the likes of John Pelphrey, Darin Feldhaus, Richie Farmer……Kentucky kids who live and die with the BBN. Although I appreciate what Pitino did for UK at one time, he has forever altered his legacy, and should no longer be considered “banner worthy”.

He IS above all, a UofL Coach.
