From now until the beginning of UK’s football season (September 2 at Louisville), KSRcollege will be counting down the days before we finally see the pigskin again. Each day, We’re going to take the number of days left before the season starts, and explain how that number is significant to UK football history (recent or ancient). This is going to be based on both personal memories and the research we compile. Hopefully, this will keep us and the football fans occupied during the long summer months and the non-football fans interested. So, until September 2…
– With injuries taking a hit at the Safety position, Dakotah Tyler has been a player that Joker Phillips has said has stepped up in order to fill that void. Tyler didn’t play last year, but did have 13 tackles in 2010.
– Fr QB Jalen Whitlow will don #13 this season. Whitlow is an athlete with a pretty release that you may see if the Cats plan on playing in the Wildcat formation.
– 13 career receiving touchdowns are good enough to be 8th all-time at UK. La’Rod is looking to add to that number after proving in the 2 preseason scrimmages that he is end zone ready, catching multiple touchdowns in both games.
– Sophomore LB Tre Dunn has football in his blood. His uncle Jason Dunn played at EKU before having a 13-year NFL career. Tre is currently at the LB position, but could be moving to the offensive side of the ball at the Tight End position.
