Lee Todd has your back

lee-todd

Most Presidents go out in style and issue a handful of pardons.  With a pardon completely out of the question, though, out-going UK President Lee Todd will head to San Antonio this week to see the basement of the Alamo and demand answers and the NCAA’s annual convention.  Todd told the Good Doctor Jerry Tipton that he will attend the NCAA Board of Directors meeting this week and ask for clarifications to be presented for the ruling and for guidelines to be explained more clearly so international recruits will not have to again face the strenuos process that Kanter endured.  Todd told the PhD of Positivity that he’s perfectly fine with a top international player landing at a rival school in the future because he’s more concerned with giving these kids a chance to play college basketball.  Letting kids who want to go to college actually go to college?  Seems like that jives with what you want, right NCAA?

While that’s all fine and good, the sexier storyline from the Tipton article is that Lee Todd said he plans to personally discuss NCAA President Mark Emmert’s public comments about Kanter with him.  According to Todd, he chatted with Emmert about the reasoning behind Cam Newton being ruled eligible before UK submitted their “new information” on the case.  Based on that little revelation, you can see why he’s so frustrated with what he has already called “inconsistent and abritrary”.  Because we know you want to know what is said and because we’re so committed to giving you the best UK coverage on the planet, Drew Franklin sent President Todd a new belt for the convention.

Go get ’em, Lee!

I hope he gets with the other board members and they get a petition to fire Emmert’s ace. Come to think of it, since he is retiring anyway, Lee would have made a good NCAA President!

I know Enes will never be freed now until he goes pro but I hope the NCAA squirms for a long time over this.

It’s about time that our “great” president decided to do something productive for the university instead of taking his huge bonus every year when tuition is raised and teachers are cut…

1.—- I guess i’m getting old, but i didn’t see a Tipturd link anywhere. I wouldn’t have clicked on it anyway, but i didn’t see it. I have learned to trust beisner, if there is a Tipturd link, he won’t blindlink it-at least you know where you’re going before you go. Tipturd’s son, Aaron still hasn;t learned.

7: I wouldn’t call his below average compensation “huge” but to each his own. He has earned it, deserves it, and though I am stuck in SE KY I am proud to have had him at my university and have not failed to see what a difference he has made in the culture of our state.

14 you are right..his 354,000 dollar compensation with a possibility of a 200,000 dollar bonus this year is considered below average? i would love to have what you consider average…all I am saying is cutting teachers and raising tuition is a little much when you are taking such a large bonus…but i hope he finds the real answeres to why enes cant play in the basement of the Alamo..

im happy to hear that president todd is going up there, he’ll be able to speak for all the uk fans that are pissed but he’ll do it in a business type way and thats what we need in order to actually hopefully get something out of this. as pissed as we all are we know that getting pissed at the ncaa wont make a difference to them but maybe…just maybe with dr todd doing the speaking for us we might be able to accomplish something. good move by dr todd, one that i appreciate very much.

just a thought, but I am sure the BBN would be all for it. What do you think about freeing ENES on Senior day and let him play 1 game. I know we would have to vacate the win, but it would also be the ultimate “FU” to emmert and the appeals committee. Any ideas on what the reprecussions would be?

Almost triple that of Todd. Folks, it is what the market bears–the same way it is with basketball coaches. Welcome to the real world.

    20) I would love to see UK give Enes “some love” somehow. Playing him during the UK Senior game would certainly raise a lot of awarneess to the situation. However, it would mean another SEC loss as UK would have to vacate the win (if they won). But I really would like to do something that would demonstrate our love for Enes and disdain for the NCAA’s inconsistant and arbitrary rules!!!

  28. Orcat

Thomas, the word is JIBES not jives, and we can thank the UK English department for that little tidbit. Why doesn’t UK just revoke Tipton’s press credentials? If UK won’t do that, perhaps players could unite and refuse to answer his questions.

#20 – I am all for giving the NCAA a symbolic “SCREW YOU.” However, could playing Enes lead to more stringent penalties by the NCAA? For example, insubordinate conduct by the University. Don`t get me wrong, I`m all for creative ideas. But let`s not make this situation any worse.

This might have been put out there a while back but, noticed Mr. Emmert was the former President at the University of Washington according to an article in the CJ. If Kanter had stayed commit-ed to Washington we wouldn’t be having this conversation or talking about this subject at all. He would be playing.

Dickie V hit it on the head that had Enes stayed at University of Washington, he would have been eligible. Emmert should have excused himself from the decision because of his perceived bias. That would have been the professional thing to do.

It is obvious the ncaa discriminates in it’s selection of employees and officers. They seem to have a very high majority percentage of prejudiced, hypocritical, vindictive dumbasses. This has been done at the expense of normal, openminded, fair and honest, intelligent people that seem to be purposely kept in the minority.
