Normally the late Thursday game is a tough one for this group….hard to stay awake as two teams of mediocre talent sludge through a game that virtually no one cares about. Tonight however is somewhat different. This Georgia-Ole Miss game is actually entertaining. Both teams are playing with a lot of energy and getting up and down the floor. There is the added bonus that the winner plays the Cats, which helps for all the UK fans who are using this opportunity to “scout” the opposition. I was standing in line for nachos (quite the treat) and I heard one old UK fan say, “I prefer to play Georgia because they dont have that big guy who can get down low against our big guy and leave open that one guy for threes.” While some may not argue this is top-level analysis, it still beats anything on a Raycom broadcast (not including Barry Booker) this season.
Ole Miss has brought quite a little crowd to this gym, maybe one of their best of all time. Andy Kennedy has done a lot to energize to the Rebels fan base, but has done little to fix the greatest travesty associated with their program….the fact that every guy associated with that school has bangs that go down to his eyebrows and are always combed down. Hasnt this look passed us all by?
Ole Miss has a player who has taken his hair cure from Rage. He is rocking “rough and tough with his Afro Puffs.”
There are a group of student reporters from one of the universities who are talking about the tournament right now and making me want to pull my hair out….one just asked, “so do the teams that win get thrown in a hat for the next round to see who they play?” And this person is on tv….covering sports……remember that next time you are upset about “Media expertise.”
What do you do when a fan in the section next to you is literally “prancing” at the sight of every basket. He jumps back and forth, waves his hands in the air and screams “YEAHHHH!!!” when Georgia scores? Do you gawk in disbelief or move quickly away? Discuss….
The crowd is thinning as we officially hit the “diehard” part of the night (Hubby is already passed out at the condo). Guess who is still here….Billy Clyde and me….one of us however is getting much more money to be here.
Most white people with a shaved head look like an odd thumb….Andy Kennedy pulls it off. And I dont care what you say, win, lose or draw, no man looks better with a pencil-thin moustache than Dennis Felton, not today, not yesterday and not tomorrow.
We will do a day-long wrap up and preview for tomorrow, plus a mini-profile of Roderick Flemings late tonight. Check it out this evening or when you get up tomorrow…..
