What a Saturday. There were big games across the college basketball landscape that had huge implications for both UK and the SEC tournament. Louisville beat Syracuse which enhances UK’s RPI as well as their position in the polls. South Carolina beat Vanderbilt which delivered UK sole possession of its 44th SEC Championship and tomorrow the Florida Gators come to Lexington for what is sure to be one of the more emotional Senior Days ever.
Additionally, the UK Hoops squad made it to the championship game of the SEC Tournament. Check out this Atlanta Journal Constitution run down of the UK Hoops game against Mississippi State. It was a great game filled with drama and we wish the Lady Wildcats luck with their rematch against Tennessee. Just remember, people. A’dia Mathies is a freshman. This team is going to be good for years to come.
On to the news:
-Sports Central has a few predictions regarding the John Wall POY prospects as well as the overall ceiling of the UK basketball team.
-A UK Dance Marathon raised over half a million dollars for pediatric cancer.
-John Calipari’s old team is doing well.
–Tampa Bay and Orlando media outlets are already lamenting the game tomorrow between the Cats and Gators.
-Here is a nice profile on Mark Krebbs on Cincinnati.com.
-Sporting News has a great UK-Florida preview.
-If this link won’t make you forever love Patrick Patterson, nothing will. Here is the money quote:
“All in all Kentucky was the best choice for me, and I’ve loved every moment of being here,” (Patterson) said.
That is about as good a way to end a raucous Saturday as any. Go Cats!
