Ladies and gentleman, Bobby Knight is at it again…
Bobby Knight spoke to a crowd at the Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday night in Carmel, Indiana. Knight said a few kind words about the Indiana faithful, even choking up momentarily in front of the 1,600 person crowd. According to those in attendance, Knight spoke for nearly 90 minutes. He offered few touching moments during the speech, instead using the platform mostly to take shots at the NCAA, referees, fellow coaches…and…you guessed it…Kentucky fans.
Knight went on a tirade about the “one and dones” for what feels like the millionth time in the past year or two.
“I think it’s a disgrace. If I was an NBA general manager, I would never want to take a kid 18, 19 years old, a year out of college. I’d wait until someone else worked two or three years with him to adjust him to the NBA and I’d trade a draft pick.”
Fair enough. There’s probably a reason (or a hundred) why Bobby Knight is not an NBA general manager. Knight didn’t shy away in his speech on Saturday night though from using the word “Kentucky.” He brought up the fact that the Kentucky fans were upset with his apparent omission of their name when discussing the best teams in the country during the March Madness coverage on ESPN.
“Kentucky managed to get irritated over that because I mentioned them as the SEC team rather than Kentucky. Well they might not have known that Kentucky was in the SEC. I thought that was always a possibility with them.”
Huh? Sounds like a bit of a dig if you ask me. I thought we were through with him for a while. Just remember what Coach Cal said earlier this week: “Don’t let anyone steal our joy.” Especially not Bobby Knight. To read the full article about Knight’s speech from the Indy Star, click here.

He won’t be stealing my joy. He’s an old IU coach; he’s supposed to hate UK. These comments make it clear that an NBA team with him as GM would lose to UK in an exhibition game.

The disgrace is that he wasn’t banned from coaching for his antics, slapping coaches, kicking balls, throwing chairs….not to mention the abuse of players verbal and physical. His bullying of basically everyone around him. He’s an absolute joke and he proves it more and more with every idiotic statement he makes. If Espn continues to employ him something is wrong.

It’s so hard to be humble BBN when we’re the target of numerous haters. Especially now that “Banner 8” is hung by being on the cutting edge of college basketball. Showing all doubters, YES, you can win with a team of dominate freshman. So on occasions it’s perfectly okay to show the middle finger to those haters but at least let the hater of your choice be relevant. With of couple of generations now that never saw Knight coach a game, he’s just some old codger who won’t go away quietly. No hate for him… just sadness that he’s a bitter old turd.
This November Puerto Rico appears to be ready to vote on statehood, wouldn’t it be funny if they become a state and can then extridate the old man. LOL

Through with Bobby Knight? One is never finished with Knight. The one thing he has shown throughout his career is perseverance. Why does anyone even listen this old fart? Why does KSR even give him ink in their blog? We all know he is nothing but a bitter old man.
So let’s say I’m an NBA general manager. (Hey, if Bobby Knight gets to be one, why can’t I get to be one, too?) I’ve got a kid on my team who was a one and done two years ago. He had a period of adjustment early, but had a solid second season, and looks to be on the verge of becoming an NBA all atar. Bobby Knight comes to me and wants to trade for him. The only way I’m trading for him is if RMK pays through the nose. I want cash, I want one of his starters, and I want a first round draft pick. So let’s say we make the trade, and the player has a fantastic season for Knight’s team. At the end of that third season, his rookie contract is up. He goes to Knight and says, “If I continue to play for you, I want a $100.000,000.00 contract.” So Knight has to pay through the nose again! That’s a lot of paying through the nose, even for sonmeone with a nose as big as his. One thing RMK should have learned long ago is, there are no free rides, but maybe Indiana let him get away with so much for so long that he’ll never learn that.

We’re never going to change Bobby Knights mind about one and done players and chances are a lot of our own fan base doesn’t like it either and they aren’t saying anything because we’ve just won a national title. So let Bobby Knight say what he wants to say it doesn’t take our National Title away from us. And if he wants to call us the team from the SEC then fine its not like the rest of the nation doesn’t know who he’s talking about. Let the man go and just laugh at him.
