Will they let Wiltjer, Gilchrist, Teague, and Davis all play on the same team?

This is great news. I’m hoping Kyle contributes in a big way next year, we could use talented big guys. He interviews well too, which is never a bad thing.

By the way, lets get more votes in this competition, Calipari is way behind: http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/infiniti/2011/

This is the guy that puts this class over the top. I mean we got 3 top 10 micky D guys and then you throw a player like Wiltjer in with them??? WOW – size and skill. Cannot wait to see all these boys in blue!

I am seriuosly wondering something. Please hold the smart ass repsonses and insults. Let’s assume that Knight, Lamb, Jones all stay. Or even if Jones goes and the others stay, would we still get all of our recruits? Would we have room for everyone, and be able to satisfy playing time egos?

Will Trevor Lacey make the Mickey D list? Could we possibly end up with 5???

All these guys have signed there LOI, so only way they can leave is if Coach Cal leaves, or if they want to sit a year.

OH MY GOD, WILTJER DIDN’T SMILE WHEN HE ACCEPTED THE McD’s ALL-AMERICAN AWARD!! Kid definitely looks like a punk to me. Another one of Cal’s one and dones who doesn’t care about UK. Boo Cal! Boo McD’s All-Americans! Boo! Boo! Boo!

Old-School LOVES this. A white person choosing UK and being selected to the MIckey D’s game. Old-School finally has a reason to break out his Grand Wizard conehead cap.

6)Cal is tremendous at getting everyone to buy in, sometimes it takes longer than we want but he is great at this. Egos should not be a problem. We have room for four right now, because Polson’s scholarship would be pulled and we have 3 empty scholarships at the moment. To get Lacey or anyone else, we would need some movement…transfer, red-shirt, or academic?(Knight)

I am mistaken, Harrelson leaving and Polson’s scholarship would allow us to add 1 more right if everyone returned. Correct?

    13) We have room for five next year assuming Polson’s scholarship is pulled because Harrelson is leaving and we only have ten scholarship players on this years team. Plus whichever if any of Jones, Knight, or Lamb leave, that ads to the number.

This is just an assumtion OK? But Knight will have his degree next year, not that I know anything more than anyone else, but I’d think he’d want that degree. Someone on the other blog said Lamb isn’t going to class…. so again, I am assuming that he’s a troll. I’m not sure if Lamb has picked his game up enough for the next level and TJ is one year away from REALLY being a BEAST. With Liggins, and Miller in the mix, I’d have to ASSUME we’d be hanging #8 2012.

The NCAA allows basketball teams at Kentucky’s level 13 basketball scholarships at a time. This year there are 11 players on scholarship Including Polson and Kanter. That leaves 2 open spots right now. Harrelson is using his last year of eligiblity this year so that opens up 3. Polson goes to walk-on status which gives us 4. Kanter has been declared permanently ineligible so that gives us 5 availalbe rides next year. 4 of these rides have been awarded and letters of intent signed. If no other players are offered and all the remaining players return, all 13 including Polson would be on scholarship. To offer additional scholarships for next year, a current player or players would have to move off scholarship such s Jones/Knight or other going to the NBA or player transfers.

Darn I counted Polson giving up a scholarhip twice above… so it looks like with our current roster and LOI’s Polson would not be on scholarship next year.

  26. KyCat
    1:27 pm February 9, 2011 Permalink

I counted Polson twice above in giving up scholarships so with our current players with eligiblity for next year were to return and the four LOI players coming in, Polson would have to move to walk-on status as I think was previously agreed to upon his coming to UK. Sorry for the error above.

Next year UK will be “paper-talented” like crazy but will still be a donut-team unless Cal can find a big that fits this offense. They’ve got recruits w/ size but no bulk… Go cats!

    2:13 pm February 9, 2011 Permalink

You were correct (originally) KyCat… 11 on scholly now… (2 open)… Harrelson, Polson and Kanter = (3 more) for a total of 5 available… assuming Polson goes back to walk-on.

    6. it could always end up that they may wanna transfer but I highly doubt it. the 4 guys we. have commited so far are all guys that want to be there for a chance to win a championship not just to get their playing time and stats up. thats one of the reasons cal didn’t go after Quincy miller and Tony wroten that hard because there both guys that want more to be the star of the team then they want to win. Wiltjer commited here knowing already what we had coming in a d still decided to come because he knew he would be able to practice and play with some of the best everyday and compete for a championship. Gilchrist is a competitor and only wants to win a d help his team any way he can. all 4 of these guys are team players and already seem like they have a strong bond before their even official uk students on campus. I think the chemistry they already have will only get better and allow next years team to be great! I can’t wait to see these guys in Kentucky blue and white, it will be special
