Kyle Bolin appreciates UK offer, but happy with UofL

After picking up an offer from Kentucky last week, Lexington Catholic quarterback Kyle Bolin felt the need to reaffirm his commitment to UofL on Twitter this afternoon.

Although Bolin had nothing but nice things to say about the current staff, he said the previous staff left a “bad taste” in his mouth, as did the UK fans that harassed him after he committed to UofL:

See you on the other side of the Governor’s Cup, Kyle.

Pretty respectable comments coming from a high school kid. Pretty well spoken and diffusive of any issues. Impressive. Good luck at UL. Hopefully we won’t miss that spot.

A sad commentary on those fans that feel the need to berate high school or college players for any reason. If you think that by doing so, you enhance your or your teams’ perception, standing or future, you are badly mistaken. Those that can only elevate themselves by tearing down others only show their immense immaturity. You deserve what you get and if you continue to do this, you’ll not have a lot positive happen in your life. It’s such a shame.

Good for you Kyle for honoring your committment. This is also a good example that fans need to keep there thoughts to themselves.

Very happy Bolin does not want to be at UK. The kid talks constant trash at Lex. Cath and is disrespectful to other players and fans. He will fit in perfectly at UL.

Kyle, I’m sure you’re reading this…but you should know that UK fans don’t want a whiny, thin-skinned little b*tch for a QB…even though you would have been 3rd string at best anyway. Have fun filling that same role at UL…’cause you’re no Teddy B.

While I wish you the best Kyle, you have to realize that the fan stuff happens at EVERY school when dealing with recruiting. What do you think wouldve happened if you did commit to UK? You wouldve gotten the same if not more from UK fans,

This kid sounds well grounded. He probably knows he can compete in the big least and ACC. Now that ULoL has recruited above him, he is smart enough to know he will get a free education without the pressure of playing big time SEC football. Good luck to the kid, he will do fine.

@21…Dear “UK Freshmen”…why do feel the need to constantly post your negative comments on a UK site? You are obviously not a UK fan nor are you “UK Freshmen”…I can understand why you would like to be a UK Freshman because that would mean you would probably be drafted very high in the NBA draft and be making big bucks soon. You seem to be more of a UofL fan, so maybe you should change your name to “UofL five year player that coach just kicked off the team to make room for a better recruit who will never get a smell of the NBA”…it would fit you much better.

Its nice seeing that Bolin acknowledged the offer and came away impressed with our new staff. I think that was the goal of Stoops. They knew that they probably wouldn’t flip Bolin, but Stoops wants the best recruits in the state to understand that UK has a place for them.

As far as Bolin’s ability is concerned, he’s the best QB in the state this year. Its hard to argue with that. That said, I liked Patrick Towles better as far as KY QB prospects are concerned and would take him over Bowlin 10 times out of 10.

He realizes Patrick Towles will be ahead of him for the next three years if he were to attend UK. He will be a backup qb at UL too because Strong will bring in someone from FL who will be #1 on the depth chart. Hope Bolin enjoys his career giving signals from the sideline.

    # 26 & 27 I guess from reading your posts the people at Lexington Catholic must have had him chained to a post over there so he could not leave. You are entitled to your opinions but not at the expense of the facts. The kid would not get a chance to play QB at Kentucky. I wish him well at Louisville.

    42. Well I think trying to evaluate a 13 year old kid is kinda silly.Untill they get 16 or 17 you have no idea what you have. Kids mature at different ages. I have seen some great young athletes that were mature at 13 or 14 years old. When they were seniors they were not even in the fold. Thats the wonderful thing about youth sports to see the kids grow and develope.

The kid’s comments aren’t necessarily good or bad, but some advice to him……keep your thoughts to yourself. It is tacky to publicly express the old staff left a bad taste in your mouth. Those comments leave a bad taste in my mouth about this kid. It has nothing to do with it being Kentucky… just have to know what is appropriate and what comments don’t add value. Keep it simple…..I am still committed to U of L.

He will probably learn this as he gets older, but right now he is burning unnecessary bridges with the old staff and potentially fans. In the world of sports everyone is connected by about 3 degrees of separation… your public comments can have unforeseen consequences down the road. I wish him the best of luck
