To fully prepare for the 2012-13 basketball season, KSR conducted one-on-one interviews with each member of the Kentucky basketball team about their expectations for the team and what they would like to achieve individually. We’ll release two interviews per day throughout the week. Up now: Kyle Wiltjer
What role will Kyle Wiltjer have this season?
That remains to be seen. But, whatever it is, he’ll be ready.
“I’m just willing to do whatever Cal asks me,” Wiltjer said when asked about where he’ll fit in with this year’s team. “Whatever it takes to become a better team, whether it’s being a leader, being a role player, just whatever. I feel like I’ve improved my game a lot. There’s a lot of things people don’t know about me, just trying to show that in practice. I like being a leader because I have that experience. Just whatever Cal wants.”
Calipari has praised Kyle this offseason for the way he has improved and tried to vary his game. He’s added muscle and worked to improve that already lethal jump shot.
“I’ve been working hard in the offseason,” Wiltjer told us. “I’m really working on my running and getting in better shape, getting my legs stronger and quicker. I’m pretty much working on my body, that was the main thing this summer.”
“The key is being in the best shape I possibly can,” he added.
Unfortunately for us, the harder Kyle works, the less time he has to make the White Boy Academy videos. We’ll get over it, but it won’t be easy.
“We were just kind of goofing around one day and just kind of whipped up one together,” he said. “I didn’t think it would be big at all; I didn’t think anyone would notice it. Then, all of the sudden, it was just like blowing up.”
“I think it’s hilarious fans love it so much. I never would’ve thought they would love it.”
93,000 views on one video? Yeah, I’d say #BBN loves it.
We also love this too:
Give us more of it this season, please?
