KSRCollege.com looks back at Billy G’s All-Access Kentucky

ESPN All Access-Kentucky might have debuted last night to much fanfare, but this isn’t the first time camera crews have been allowed to follow the basketball team. I present to you on this Thursday afternoon a couple of segments of the All Access series that follows the 2009 Cats under coach Billy Gillispie that aired during episodes of College Gameday that same season. They aren’t exactly easy to watch, the Cats lose to both South Carolina in one segment and Georgia in the other, but it’s definitely interesting to see the mood around the program when Gillispie was at the helm compared to what it is now under Calipari. You also get some classic Billy Clyde running a pregame walkthrough in a hotel ballroom.

Aired on February 28th, 2009.

Aired on March 7th, 2009.

What a difference three years makes….

Wow…did that really happen? Seems so long ago. Thank goodness.

Just four seasons ago. Wow!!! Seems unreal. Now we are back on top to stay.

Never has a fan base been so glad to see a season disappear into the rearview mirror. Maybe with the right coaching hire we will someday be able to look at this pathetic football season and feel the same way.

Boy, this footage REALLY makes me appreciate even more what we have going on right now!

Billy and his assistants sure talk fast. Pretty funny how he says he’s still looking for 3 or 4 guys to play hard and play together when Meeks, Miller, Liggins, Patterson and Jorts are all currently on nba rosters.

I see so many similarities between BillyClyde and Joker. Sure, that team had a couple good players but the future recruits looked turrible (yes, turrible). If BC had been allowed to stay any longer, the right coach may not have been available. Mitch needs to MOVE on joke, NOW!

Billy G level recruits are what uk got when they did not have a pimp (uncle wes) to buy players.

Every time Billy G starts to fade from my memory, you all have to go and so something like this and remind me of him.

truth, the only thing holding the Cats back is our salary cap! Plus, we have several ‘uncles.’ green-eyed monster; whatever makes you feel good!!

#7 Billy G type recruits are what Loserville got and still gets with Quicky Ricky at the helm! GTFO with your Uncle Wes ish! Jealousy is ugly, especially when it’s cardinal red!

At least we beat UNLV and Creighton in the NIT that year *hangs head*

I need therapy after watching those clips but a few dosages of UKCAT8FAN clips should do the trick.

EVerybody seemed so depressed and it looked like they only allowed the players to live by candlelight. Massive TV to review film.

I wonder if he put his Wild Turkey in a Solo cup when they were all together studying a game on that HUGE TV. What a drunk. It isn’t high blood pressure, it is called “the shakes”. Have another, you shitheel.

#7, Obviously. Why would a player ever come to Kentucky, win a championship, and go to the NBA on his own? Surely UK must be paying him.

    Meeks
    Patterson
    Darius
    Liggins
    Harrellson

All pros. Still couldn’t make the tourney under billy. Cal would’ve had that team at a 3 seed worst case.

Leonard Washington and Beas Hamga would have made a difference.

It’s real simple. Gillispie is a bad man and was in waaaay over his head. The difference between him and Calipari is night and day.

Josh Harrellson should make a quarterly trip to Lexington just to french kiss Mitch Barnhart — if Billy had been around for one more year Josh would have a very different life right now.

I was at the UNLV game and when Coach Cox walked out on the floor and was about half way across the UNLV team ran out behind him to our boos. I was maybe 4 rows up and was looking right at Coach Cox’s face. He had the look that told me that he thought that we were booing Billy G as he was taking the floor that night. I remember that as much as Perry’s big dunk. They all knew that it was over for them at that point but it was still a fun night to be back in the old gym.

In the huddle setting up D with UGA ball out and the lead,,,,,,,,,was it just me or could anyone else understand a single thing he was saying. No dang wonder we were so bad then.
