Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

KSR is in West Liberty with special guest John Calipari (Friday Show Thread and Donation Info)

On March 2, 2012, West Liberty, Kentucky was hit by an EF-3 tornado, causing extensive damage to the downtown area. Many homes and businesses over a one-mile span were heavily damaged or destroyed, including the old courthouse (built in 1907) and the new courthouse, which was a little over halfway through construction at the time.

Today, the Kentucky Sports Radio team is in West Liberty to broadcast the final show from the affiliate tour while raising money for the relief effort. We’ll have John Calipari with us in downtown West Liberty for the second hour of the show, as well as phone interviews with Joker Phillips and Josh Hopkins.

But more importantly, we’re encouraging our radio show listeners to donate to the West Liberty/Morgan County Long Term Recovery Team. You can make a contribution in-person at the radio broadcast downtown or you can donate online at WestLibertyRecovery.com

Ally said it best in the Friday News and Views: Kentucky fans have collectively fought many battles in honor of the team we cheer for, standing together behind our team(s). Today we have a chance to stand together for an even bigger cause, and I hope all of you will join the KSR crew in whatever way possible.

Again, that’s WestLibertyRecovery.com or go straight to the PayPal donation page here.

We hope you all enjoy this morning’s special show and consider making a contribution, big or small, to help rebuild West Liberty.

To donate, give us a call at 606-743-1080.

  59. Proud Brother
    10:18 am August 17, 2012 Permalink

I am proud to say that my brother was working the ER at the hospital in Morehead the night of the tornado. After the hospital in West Liberty was hit the patients were sent to Morehead. He worked many overtime hours that night helping the tornado victims. Nearly all the ER doctors employed there came in to help that night even if they were off work and had one hour or more drives without being asked. He was amazed at how the entire hospital came together to help the victims of this tragedy. He doesn’t like to talk about it or what he and his co-workers did to help the people of West Liberty so I am making a donation in his name.

JayCee, if you’re a top 10 team like Arkansas, you don’t think like us “please let our guaranteed losses be on the road!” Yeah they have to play LSU and Bama, but they aspire to win the conference. So if you have to play them, bring them on at home and see if you can take them out.

This is a great thing KSR is doing. KSR is very powerful. I know Matt doesn’t want to do such things all the time, but KSR could really help some other good causes in the state with this type of influence. I know one could be the Parkland Boys and Girls Club in the west end of Louisville — a much needed facility for young people in one of the most poverty, crime, and drug-riddled areas of the state. The place can’t seem to stay open due to lack of funding.

Cal has got to be 1 of the BEST people in general, I have never heard a Coach that puts the time in he does, and CARES for HIS State the way he does. The man gets it like Noone else does. He gives back, like no other. THAT is why this State loves him, not just because he brings THE BEST players to this state, but because he gets it, he cares and he gives back. We love you Cal

Try to remember that the next time someone does a hatchet job on liberals – Matt, Calipari are liberals, and if you were touched and donated you are too. Time to take back the label and wear it with pride. Love how Calipari takes Kentucky basketball and turns it into so many good works. People of all political philosophies are proven to be privately generous to charitable causes, but it’s only the left that thinks most charity should be administered by a huge, monstrous government bureaucracy that almost always does more harm than good. Sorry, but legitimate charity is just like today: private and not tainted with the stink of bureaucracy.
