On March 2, 2012, West Liberty, Kentucky was hit by an EF-3 tornado, causing extensive damage to the downtown area. Many homes and businesses over a one-mile span were heavily damaged or destroyed, including the old courthouse (built in 1907) and the new courthouse, which was a little over halfway through construction at the time.
Today, the Kentucky Sports Radio team is in West Liberty to broadcast the final show from the affiliate tour while raising money for the relief effort. We’ll have John Calipari with us in downtown West Liberty for the second hour of the show, as well as phone interviews with Joker Phillips and Josh Hopkins.
But more importantly, we’re encouraging our radio show listeners to donate to the West Liberty/Morgan County Long Term Recovery Team. You can make a contribution in-person at the radio broadcast downtown or you can donate online at WestLibertyRecovery.com
Ally said it best in the Friday News and Views: Kentucky fans have collectively fought many battles in honor of the team we cheer for, standing together behind our team(s). Today we have a chance to stand together for an even bigger cause, and I hope all of you will join the KSR crew in whatever way possible.
We hope you all enjoy this morning’s special show and consider making a contribution, big or small, to help rebuild West Liberty.
To donate, give us a call at 606-743-1080.
