KSR College Wants You to Join Its Ranks

You may have noticed in recent weeks that a few college students have invaded KSR. Well they are the first of this semester’s initial class of the KSR College Student Interns. Beginning next week, we will launch a new website, “KSR College”, that will focus on some of the secondary sports at UK and give a voice to a new future generation of KSR writers. The KSR College site will cover the mainstays of basketball and football, but will also be heavy on the UK Hoops team, the other sports at UK and college life in general. It will be made for college students and those that love UK athletics beyond the big two sports.

The writers that have been on this site will soon go back to their KSR College home, but WE NEED 6-8 NEW WRITERS FOR THE SPRING and SUMMER SEMESTERS. Interested candidates need to be in either college or graduate school, have the ability to attend events on UK’s campus and an interest in writing about UK sports and topics surrounding UK sports in the coming year. You don’t have to be a student at UK but you do need to be at a college close enough to UK so that you could be sent to Lexington for events (Transy, Centre, EKU, etc). Writers will be selected on a semester by semester basis and the best of them may one day find their way to the main KSR site in the future.

We are especially interested in those that are SUPER CREATIVE, FUNNY, ENTERTAINING or UNIQUE in their viewpoints. We will have regular reporters as well, but as we have learned over the years in KSR land, those that are entertaining are hard to replicate and we want to find those in the newest generation capable of doing it, doing it and doing it well.

If you are interested in applying, the turnaround is quick. We need (a) A resume, (B) a writing sample of a story/blog post you have done or have created for this opportunity and (C) your class/work schedule. All of this needs to be submitted to [email protected] by THURSDAY at NOON. We will be doing interviews in Lexington this weekend and picking the staff soon thereafter.

This is a great opportunity for all of those who are interested in writing/covering sports. You will get a forum to get your writings published and for those that excel, the potential to work on the regular KSR site, the radio show and tv show in the future. Make sure and get your information in by Thursday and good luck with the process.
