KSR asks, “Who should replace Joker if he is let go?”

Walk into any UK tailgate, and someone will ask you about a name of a potential coach for the future. So we sent KSR tailgating correspondent Jefra Bland outside Commonwealth Stadium before the South Carolina game to ask fans, “Who should replace Joker Phillips if he is let go?”

It’s hard not to notice that the YouTube branding for KSR is nonexistent in the publication of these videos.
The “Drew Fraklin” brand however, is gaining steam and looks set to blow this popsicle stand by 2014.
It’s cunning stuff, Drew. And I can’t wait to watch it play out.
Take the pebble from his hand, etc.

First of all Petrino will NEVER be hired by Barnhart, and the people pining for him are unbelievably dumb. Not only would he more than likely prefer Auburn, but let’s just remember how he left his last three jobs. To top it off he now appears to be a scumbag. No thanks!

Kirby Smart is who they need to go after. We have a lot of good young talent on offense, we need a defensive minded coach and he is the best defensive coordinator in the nation. Barnhart needs to pay him a ton of money and get him.

    I want Eric Mangini

Petrino is also a proven winner in the SEC that does more with less. That makes him the perfect choice for UK. Hire the guy. We don’t need a preacher as our football coach. We need an asshole like the majority of the other SEC coaches.

first off, dude in the video said rich brooks wasnt established? I guess thats why a top 10 team has their stadium named after him, but anyways, I think Jim Tressel, I mean yeah he got osu on probabtion, but for defending his players, thats a much better screw up than petrinos.. if not i say a young up and coming guy

I love Joker, and wish he would’ve been able to pull it out for us, but it aint lookin good. Now is when Mitch finds our new guy.

85% of the fan base is against Bobby Petrino. Why? He’s too old, he is dishonest, he wouldn’t stay for even two seasons…no matter what, and he has WAY too much baggage and too many problems. NO NO to Bobby Petrino. I’d rather have Joker for 20 more years than Bobby Petrino for one. KENTUCKY is better than Bobby Petrino, we won’t stoop that low, and Mitch Barnhart knows it.

We need a good recruiter. Charlie Strong has proven that a coach that can get talent can turn a program around fairly quick.Go after the best recruiter available and UK football will dramatically improve in no more than a year.

  26. Ares

Willie Taggart young check, wins with inferior talent check, knows how to recruit Florida check, strong coaching pedigree check. I really think whoever gets him from Western will be pleased. I know it wouldn’t jazz up the fan base but winning would and I think he wins at UK pretty quickly. Just my 2 cents.

Why would Kirby smart come to UK? I don’t see that happening. The guy would be better off taking the head job at a mid major Program with potential, winning there and getting a good head coaching position at a football school. There are better football schools that would hire Kirby right now if their HC spot opened up. At least I’m not hearing ridiculously assure names like Jon Gruden

Leach or Petrino, both have been successful at Kentucky like schools(arky being a little above ky). Most of the other suggested coaches are not proven. Minter would probably look like a genius at Bama. We need something to believe in.

  37. What
    10:17 pm September 30, 2012 Permalink

Petrino would be the wrong way to go. Its kinda sad how desperate people are to win, that they will want to hire that train wreck. That man has no character. He has bailed on every job he has had. At Arkansas he hired his unqualified mistress. He would either get the program in trouble, or bounce as soon as he had success. Having a year or two of above average seasons is not worth it. No way he will be the next head coach.

  38. What

    11. Barnhart has had a LOT of success everywhere but football. He is doing a damn good job. Every other sport we are VERY competitive in. Football brings in the money, but Barnhart should not be judged by his success in football when no AD has had success while here for football.

BLEW TEXAN, did Mitch Barnhart steal your girlfriend in high school??…or are you STILL in high school? he has done no worse than any AD at UK in recent history at hiring a football coach(our last five head coaches have career winning % below .500), and he has made every other sport very competitive.

  45. Scotty Sharp

I’d love to see Kirby Smart get the job, but Mitch is going to have to dig deep into the pockets to get him, which I don’t see him doing unfortunately. Smart is currently the highest paid assistant coach in the country at $750,000.

who the hell would want petrino in the first place? he is dishonest, completely shamed, and a corrupt person. Go after the OC for west virginia or Clemson. The OC for Clemson is the highest paid and best performing OC in the nation, I’d want him over anyone. Petrino has lost his respect. I dont even think players would want to go play for him anymore after the scandals he’s been through.

“If” Joker is gone at the end of the season, and Mitch hires Petrino (which is not gonna happen folks) I may not watch a UK football game until he takes an NFL job, or leaves for a “better program” or gets caught doing something to get himself, or UK in trouble. Petrino is a piece of crap as a human being and if thats what we have to have to win…I can’t watch. There are other coaches out there that can win at UK and this team is very young and will only get better.

Jay Gruden will not come to Kentucky. He was up for HC positions in the NFL after ONE season as the OC for the Bengals. Kentucky needs to go after Butch Jones (UC), Kirby Smart (Bama DC and maybe long shot but he should get a call), or Gus Malzahn the HC at Arkansas State (former OC at Auburn).
