Knight Likes Four Eyes

knighteyes

I have noticed in the last couple of games that Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb have been doing the above gesture with their hands after certain made baskets. I admit to having no idea what they are doing, but my guess is that they are giving a shout out to all the young Matt Joneses who have to wear glasses and face the ridicule of middle school classmates. Or maybe not, but that is what I am just going to assume.

Any idea the true meaning? I admit that when I have a good episode of KSTV, I look directly at Mark Krebs and make the same gesture.

They do it when they stroke threes. Notice the three fingers with the index finger and thumb forming the circle. It also means, in the words of Mark Jackson, “HAND DOWN, MAN DOWN.”

I first noticed this at the womens basketball games. What I have been told by several “with it” people is the it means “a three in your eye”, an insult to the other team! The three raised fingers for the three, and over the eye for.. ,well you get it!

its a gang symbol for “goonies”. they just do it as a joke. most basketbal players do it because its a joke and because the three fingers also stand for “3”

Everbody who plays pick up basketball knows that when you shoot a three, and make it, with someone’s hand in your face you scream, “IN YOUR EYE!” I have no idea why, but I have done it for years. Even shortening it down to “EYEBALL!” when you make the basket. Lamb and Knight only do it when they make a contested 3. So, they are telling their defender, “I just put one in your eye.”

He’s making fun of that idiot at the top thi (KSR’s) website, the guy in the red shirt and blue hat (in the strip of moderator pics), feeling all studley about himself in his sunglasses indoors. I mean seriously, what kind of goon picture is THAT? He looks like if he let his breath out he’d bust the button on his already too tight 42’s. Moobs aren’t cool at all, dude.

So to you, fat guy in red shirt who doesn’t think he’s fat because his moobs stick out farther than his gut so I’m not fat, we all make glasses faces and laugh at you.

Without holding his hands to his eyes, John Wall made the same hand configuration last year after making a 3 pointer. Forefinger and thumb together with other fingers extended. Almost looks like the “okay” hand gesture. 3 Pointer.

It appears the be the symbol for ‘3 Goggles’ that the Portland Trailblazers have started using this year. I live in Portland and ‘3 Goggle’ mania has taken over. They sell shirts with the symbol on it outside the Rose Garden before every game. It started because apparently Rudy Fernandez has trouble seeing long distances and is always squinting, so Patty Mills started saying he needed to get some glasses to hit a three, this morphed into ‘3 goggles’ and the rest is history.

Here is a pic of the shirt http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/12/21/1890050/three-goggle-shirt-foto-from-britty_d

gang sign as fellow louisville poster said. As someone who works with innercity youth, I see this all the time for any gang affiliated with bloods. I love my cats, and dont think most basketball players mean it as a gang sign now, but I am afraid that is how it started.

Lebron James uses this sign. Everytime the Star Spangled banner is played before a game he makes gestures with this included, but it is not over his eyes. It is a sign of membership in the illuminati. The three fingers on one hand, thumbs and indexes in the middle make two sixes, and then three fingers on the other hand. Thus the sign makes ‘666’. Thats where this particular gesture comes from, but I think people not knowing what it actually is use it because NBA players use it, and it has come to mean sharp shooter bc of the threes in the sign.

It’s a three sign that came from referees and how they do the same sign when a three is in the process of being shot. They then raise their hands for the made three pointer. The referee does it to distinguish it from being a two which are the index and middle fingers wheras the three sign is the pinky and third finger.
