Ain’t that special. UKAY gets out of town while the varsity is playing (LOUISVILLE) then tries to sneak back in town and play a Sunday evening snoozefest.

Lets win this tournament boys! We have the best team and coach and fans, and we all just need to keep believing. I hope UK keeps their collective heads up and the team and coach treats this as a learning experience. I relish a rematch potentially with Baylor in the quarters at Rupp. I think we’ll win by 20. Go Cats

Win a Championship, then talk smack. You should be worring about surviving this weekend in Rupp against a Mizzou team that will matchup well with you rather than trying to upset a fan base that is use to success. We will be back on top, for you…..it’s this year or never. Have a nice day.

Could care less about NIT games. Would be nice if the Cats picked up a couple of wins to pad all-time winning lead but not going to lose any sleep if they don’t. Won’t be going to or watching anyway. I honestly like Peyton Siva and wouldn’t care if they won it all because of his commitment to Christ. Unfortunately, many (not all) of their little brother fans seem to be more elated that were going to the NIT than the fact they got a #1 overall seed in the big dance. Pathetic.

#20: Apparently Dave Telep states that Julius Randle has already committed in his premium (for pay) section. That is why Kansas fan boards have been blowing up with claims they have Randle. I hope that is BS. Otherwise, it appears Cal will strike out on all three guys (Randle, Wiggins & Gordon).

When I saw the NIT bracket, part of me thought “There’s a chance that we could lose twice in the same year to the same team in Rupp Arena (Baylor).” Has that ever happened since Rupp opened? I’m still hopeful this team finds some reason to accomplish something, at least show some pride and teamwork.

    27) If you think we will win at Robert Morris, you haven’t been watching our games. We suck on the road. Robert Morris played Arkansas a closer game than we did. Our players couldn’t get up for a must win game against Vandy, do you really think they are going to be fired up to play in the NIT? This will be Robert Morris’s national championship game. Their fans will go crazy and their players are going to be pumped. Sounds like a UK win to you?

You UK fans are something else. 3 of the last 6 NCAA champions have been in the NIT the year after winning the big dance. It’s nothing new, but you think you’re so special that everyone should be upset when it happens to you. Get a life. How quickly you seem to forget last year, and the ride you had. And then you wonder why in the world other fan bases act the way they do towards UK. I suppose an elite 8, a final 4, and a national championship in the past three years means nothing. I tell you right now, i would trade an NIT appearance every fourth year for the run you’ve had the past three and never, ever complain. Get over yourselves.

Telep is not claiming that Randle has committed to Kansas. I am an “insider” at ESPN and in the article, he actually seeds the teams that are finalists this way: 1) Kentucky 2) Kansas 3) Texas 4) Florida. He believes that Kentucky is the favorite but he does say that his guess is Kansas. Can’t provide the link unless you’re an insider.

I know we aren’t supposed to win every year or even get in the tournament, but this year was ridiculous. If Ryan Harrow will let me, I’m more than happy to help me pack up his stuff so he can get the hell out of Lexington & on to his new D2 school. This kid is a disaster, and might as well give up on basketball because he doesn’t have the skills or mindset to even play ball in Europe.

  45. Jason
    2:55 pm March 18, 2013 Permalink

35 and 42 – I agree that many of my Blue brethren are overreacting to this disappointment of a season. You must realize, however, that these high expecations are what makes our program the greatest in the history of the sport. University of Kentucky basketball is the only sports entity, to my knowledge, where anything other than a National Championship is actually a failure. Lots of others claim to have that mindset, but we actually mean it. Rationalizing the acceptance of this NIT bid by reminding the world of last year’s championship does not make you a better fan.

I agree with you 35. Some fans overreact rather than being realists. Cal was surprised when everyone left last year and was trying his best to fill the roster at the last second. When he was unable to land a few, and when Shabazz and Bennett had question marks, things happened. As a result we had a short bench. When Noel went down our bench, which has zero athleticism, had to play. The personnel was lacking. You have to play Mays who isn’t athletic and can’t defend, then when Wiltjer comes in there are 2 people who can’t guard. When Polson, or Hood plays they can’t keep a guy in front of them. So you have 4 out of 8 that can’t guard. Then you have AP with a low motor, and a PG that can’t take contact but does have good ball skills and is the only one that can beat the press off the dribble. A team where are shooters Wiltjer and Mays can’t create their own shot, and a point guard that can’t break down a defense consistently to free up their shooters. So the offense is lacking and Goodwin forces the issue. So here we are. How do we fix this? Cal recruits big, versatile, athletic players, and will work to have a bench that at least goes 3 deep. 8 talented players that can guard and play multiple positions is enough to get up and run; and to also make a run in the tournament. I love UK, but will give this team a break while still supporting them through good and bad. Can’t wait for next year though to shut up some of the haters. They know what’s coming and this is their opportunity to run their mouth. Just accept it, and be patient.

A national championship every year (or it’s a failure) is simply unrealistic. No sport has that or has ever had that. Thinking that way-Good luck keeping a great coach.

@35….I agree with you about our great ride and people get way too upset about the way this year went. However, we are UK fans and love our team and hold them to high expectations. And when we complain about things it is on our website because we dont troll other schools websites. As bad as our year might have been we still arent so depressed about our own program that we waste our time on someones elses sight. When we are on your teams sight complaining then you can speak up. You probably wont see this though because by now you have probably moved on to another sight like Duke, North Carolina,Kansas, or another blue blood. I would post my response on your schools sight but you apparently dont spend much time in that pathetic place.
