What would beating Robert Morris or even “winning the NIT” accomplish prove uk is the 69th best team in the country. The NIT title is an accomplishment for mid majors and lower power six teams that rarely get to the NCAA. Uk will lose because winning means nothing and beating uk will mean the world to some mid major.

Why is it that because Rupp is going to be occupied on Thur/Fri, it can’t host an NIT gm on Tuesday? Also why can’t we use Memorial or even freedom hall or Yum Center?

We don’t want to be there, and it will be the biggest game in RM’s history.
It’s obvious there is a few kids on our team who don’t give a sh_t, so that’s
all it will take for the upset.

Was Memorial or Freedom Hall not available for Kentucky to use? In fact, was any high school gym in the state of Kentucky available?

Rupp is hosting an NCAA play in game tuesday is why we cannot play in Lexington, thus we go to Pitt. That being said go Cats and make yourself proud. Play your best and you can win this easy, don’t play with heart you come home early.

  34. Hubs coca

I mean lets be real, we’re gonna beat Robert Morris because we are still UK and we have more talent. I’m not predicting a blowout though. What scares me is the rest of the field who are all better than most of the SEC teams we lost to. Providence has a guy that led the big east in scoring and we know how well we fared against Baylor when we had Noel and were technically playing better basketball. I don’t think there is enough heart or will from both the players and coaches to win say…three NIT games, especially after the deflation of not makin the NCAA. But WE WILL BEAT ROBERT MORRIS in front of 2500 people!! Oh and cal gets to go home to his Yankee state!

    9:41 pm March 17, 2013 Permalink

yeah…not sure what is up with the game being at Robert Morris…Memorial Coliseum would have been just fine…and much better…at least 3 times the capacity…and…as the one seed…should we not have home court? would go and support my Cats…even they this group has been a disappointment…just in terms of their fight, their heart, and their effort…they had more talent and ability than their record shows…and THAT is what makes it suck so bad…UK fans can stomach losing and still love their players…what UK fans cannot stomach are players who mail it in and do not give all of their heart and effort…do that and you are a winner either way…that being said, these are a bunch of 18 & 19 year-old kids…most of whom have no particular allegiance to UK or to the state of Kentucky or to the Program…other than wanting to play for the big name school and the big name coach and be a top draft pick…but any player…anywhere…regardless of level of talent…simply HAS to play with heart and determination and a desire to win…to succeed…we had that in Spades in last year’s squad…this year? not so much…hence the outcome…we have GOT to come out and STOMP ALL OVER teams next year to get our mojo back and keep this thing kicking…GO BIG BLUE!!!

If UK wins, then they were supposed to. If they lose then it will be anoter embarassment. Lose lose situation. Nothing to gain here. UK has lost badly in its last 4 road games and lost badly to Vandy on a neutral court. Why woud they all of a sudden be motivated to get a win at Robert Morris?

I love all you clowns that keep saying this team doesn’t care. I think that’s b.s. they said those kids were in tears the other night, so obviously they care. Just because they didn’t meet expectations doesn’t mean they don’t care. Let’s face it if we put 5 jarrod polsons on the floor that tried their hardest, and got their ass kicked every night some of you fans would still be going off the deep end, whining about how bad they suck.

Cal needs to put a foot up these kids asses. Should have along time ago. Remind them what team they play for. This isn’t a glorified AAU team. It’s the greatest tradition in baketball… period! You can stay for one year then be on your merry way. But DAMMIT TO HELL! You play your asses off while you’re here. If you don’t have pride for UK basketball you’ll never have pride for anything. If the 5 stars are gonna act like they really could care less, at least put in the Kentucky boys who have dreamed of this their whole life.

This is the official statement why the game will be on the road:

Kentucky executive associate athletics director DeWayne Peevy issued a statement Sunday night to explain the school’s decision.

“We did not place a bid to host the first round of the NIT due to limited staff availability to properly host a game at Memorial Coliseum. Because the University of Kentucky is hosting the NCAA second- and third-round games at Rupp Arena on March 21 and 23, the facility was not available for a first-round NIT game. We placed a bid to host both the second round and quarterfinal games at Rupp Arena if we advance.”

    47) Big Haha, priceless!I expect nothing less from Archie.
And enough with the whining from all you drivelers, shunning competition?.If you’re afraid to play another game, you obviously have far less heart than these “heartless” players you are bashing. The NCAA tourney is obviously not about selecting the best 68 teams. Several schools in this NIT have quality teams. None of the last four in and probably not even some 12 seeds would garner #1 seeds in this tourney. There is a lot of “politics” involved. Limping into the NCAAs is no cause for pride, anymore than accepting a bid to the NIT is cause for shame. We all knew long ago this team was probably not Final Four bound, but so many can’t see or accept reality. ( The Blue Mist ??? )These are 18-19 year old kids running around in baggy shorts. Lighten up, Support your Cats and hope this is a growing experience…. for all!It seems to me that many of the “fans” commenting on this site are in much greater need of some humble pie than any team members or coaches.

51, UT and Arkansas both beat us at home, and they fed off the home crowd energy. Their fans absolutely will not give a f&*( about them in the NIT, so they will not have that IF the Cats play them. Baylor is probably the biggest obstacle for them. However, the REAL obstacle for this team has always been THEMSELVES.

How does one get up the “give a fcuk” about playing in the NIT?

Start a petition to make Calipari donate 2/3rds of his 2012-2013 Salary to Charity. He didn’t earn that paycheck this year. He couldn’t field a team that could beat a 15 win Vandy team in the SEC Tournament.

In a down SEC, Kentucky was embarrassed #1 NIT bid.

Even Flubby made it to the NCAA this year and they play in a Conference that is actually GOOD!
