WCS….only 2 points in 21 mins of PT….not going to cut it.

We gotta get better. 20% from 3 pt line won’t cut it. Kyle 1-5? I thought he could shoot well!?
Supprising stat is that Archie had 3 blocks and Alex 8-8 from the stripe. Goodwin is probably the most explosive player going to the rack ever at UK!

WCS the #1 pick. Maybe the #1 pick of the second round.

Goodwin, Noel, and maybe Poythress are the only kids from this team going to the NBA… after this season anyway.

Archie is awesome! Good learning game for Cats. Stein needs work. Matt and guys at KSR give us some insight on Petrino. You guys act like he doesn’t exist? What’s the deal?

    2. Get a grip! Small sample size. Wiltjer and Mays are 40%+ 3pt shooters. We have more data than just one game!

I see so much of T. Jones in Poythress. Just kinda loafing along at times, so much so that Cal will bench him for several minutes. Then he’ll come in and casually dunk all over anybody from anywhere. He quietly gets 20 in a game. He’s like a bigger Azubuike without the 3-pt stroke. Can you imagine if he went as hard more often?

Also, Kyle, if you’re gonna lose your man on defense, foul shooters, violate the lane, and miss your shots, you’re gonna spend a lot of time watching the game from the bench, man.

Made my yearly pilgrimmage to Rupp Arena. Thought it might be another Gardner Webb there for awhile. Sean’s got some pretty good athletes on his team. They fouled the heck out of us though.

That’s the youngest this team has looked – even more so than against Duke. I imagine that the Morehead game plan just became the blueprint for attacking this team: get rough with the Cats’ offense, then go after Wiltjer and/or pump fake Noel and WCS out of position when they’re on defense. They’ll figure out how to handle both approaches. The interior defense will improve, I’m betting pretty soon. And in a month or so, Goodwin and Poythress will respond to bumps by just running over people.

I’m more concerned with the lack of depth. Calipari is fine with 7 players, but right now two of those seven are Polson and Cauley-Stein, who aren’t providing a lot of value on either end of the court. Maybe Harrow’s return will make this all better, and WCS might be much better by the end of the year. But at the moment, we’re pretty much a 5 man team, which is probably just too thin against top competition.

    16) I think we made Morehead look like they have good athletes. This team kind of took a step back a little from the last game. Last years team was better after every game and by January was a title contender. That kinda scares me a little about this team. We’ll be good but not great. I think we’ll have to wait until next year for #9.

Charlie Strong to Tennessee– Petrino back to U of L. Jurich is no fool. Mitch is screwing this up in an unparalelled fashion. Thanks Mitch. Petrino is the absolute best coach out there we can get and he offered to sign a contract with UK that says if he leaves before the end of the contract he would pay back ALL the money UK has paid him. Thats a fact. Mitch and KSR are holding out on us.

This is one of the worst rebounding teams I’ve seen at UK and I’ve been watching them since 1958 on a regular basis. I’m going to attribute it to youth and lack of experience. While the alent is there, these guys aren’t playing for each other yet. Poythress now has 9 turnovers compared to no assists. Our guards combined for 6 assists. That ain’t good.

Am I missing something or do the stats, points wise, not add up? For both teams, if you add the number of field goals, 3’s, and free throws together, you don’t reach the final team scores. For example, Chavis’ 9 fg’s, 3 3’s, and 2 ft’s add up to 29 total points not 23.

    22. 3’s are INCLUDED in the ‘total FG’ column. The box is correct.
