Kentucky Weekly Recruiting Rundown: 10/26-10/29

Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Alabama, is starting to focus on his recruitment. Lacey, who is down to Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, UConn and Kansas, plans on taking official visits starting next week. Thus far, the only official visit set in stone is Alabama. Lacey will attend the Auburn/Alabama Football game, the Iron Bowl, the last week of November. While he does not plan on signing until the spring, these visits will play a big role in the decision making process of Trevor Lacey. If a scholarship is available in the spring, Lacey will most likely commit to Kentucky.

On Wednesday, Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari and Assistant Orlando Antigua took a trip down south and into the midwest. The coaches went to Arkansas, followed by an appearance in Tennessee and, then, Kansas.

While in the Razorback state, the staff watched Archie Goodwin ’12, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, who is a top twenty prospect in his class. The staff watched team workouts and that was basically it due to the NCAA rules. Goodwin is being recruited by Kansas, Memphis, Baylor, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Texas, Tennessee and others.

The same would go for the next two recruits. As they landed in Tennessee, the duo checked out Johnny Williams III ’13, a 6-foot-8 forward, who recently visited Tennessee. Williams is a top twenty player in his class and is being recruited by schools all over the south.

As the staff left the south, they traveled to west to Kansas. They went to see one of their more notable 2012 recruits, Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward, who visits Kentucky soon. Ellis will attend the first Kentucky basketball game of the year in November. While it is believed that the Wildcats are not as high as Memphis or Kansas on Perry’s list, that is not the truth. Ellis’ mom is a huge supporter of assistant Orlando Antigua. Ellis currently has an offer from the Cats.
