The Kentucky Women’s Basketball coaching staff has been hitting the recruiting trail hard during the offseason.

Last week, the coaching staff extended another offer to one of the nation’s elite prospects out of the class of 2022, Maya Nnaji, a 6-foot-4 forward from Hopkins, MN who ESPN has ranked as the No. 8 player in the country and the third-best forward. Nnaji is the sixth player from the class of 2022 ranked in the top-20 to receive an offer from the Wildcats.

Nnaji is one of the most dominating players in her class, particularly on the defensive end of the floor. According to ESPN‘s Dan Olson, he describes her as a “Skilled interior performer delivers efficiently in the paint; interior footwork, utilizes either hand to finish in traffic; emerging face up game; a defensive intimidator, alters shots, initiates the fast break, mobile in transition; an impact prospect in the class of 2020.”

Her former high school teammate, Paige Bueckers, is the No. 1 player in the class of 2020 and headed for UConn. The Hopkins Royals are currently riding a 62-game winning streak and were set to play in the state championship following a 31-0 season that was ultimately canceled due to the coronavirus. Nnaji averaged 20 points per game during her sophomore season, her second straight on the varsity squad, alongside Bueckers. Her brother, Zeke Nnaji, averaged 16 points and eight rebounds as a freshman at Arizona last season.

In 2020 alone, Nnaji has received offers from prestigious women’s hoops programs such as NC State, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Louisville. Check out her highlights.
