    We are going to get KILLED 2nd half. Goodwin continues to be a dude totally out of control and a liability! on the floor…Mays has been a disappearius for the last few games and was being counted on for his maturity and production..NOT…Wiltjer a liability because of his passing and overall slowness….Poythress can’t hit FT’s all of a sudden..WE SUCK

    Lets face it we are still spoiled by last years team and this team will never match up to that. Looks to me as tho these guys do not get it as a team and what they are to do. Too skinny too slow and not what they really should be.

    As much as I hate to say this. I think the coach got the wrong players this year. They can’t do anything. I bet he wishes he tried harder to get jones,lamb,and Teague to stay. They aren’t doing anything but sitting on the bench in the nba they might as well have came back to school.

    harrow has played well, noel just continues to give great effort. now let me talk about alex poythress. he is by far the dumbest player i have seen in college basketball. we keep waiting for this guy to get it and be a beast, folks it will not happen even if he were to stay 4 years. the guy is just basketball dumb.

  79. 66, valid points, but as for all the talk about how much Rickie’s teams get away with all the grabbing and holding (“foul 100 times cuz they can’t call them all”)…if there was really that much to that, wouldn’t every team do it?

    Cats lose on free throws. ANYBODY WHO SHOOTS UNDER 50% FROM THE LINE DESERVES TO LOSE. That being said UL still barley wins against an unranked team on their home court . They got away with a boatload of fouls and the refs refused to call any on Gorgi , Siva or Smith down the stretch . Again on their home court.
    I was surprised with the grit showed by the Cats at the end but they did not deserve this one.

    Great effort by our young Cats. But, if not for uofl’s foul trouble, we lose by double digits.

  87. 74 is right. The missed FT’s remind me of the 97 championship when Nazr went 0-10. He shoots just 10 or 20% and we are at 9! But then again, with all the close calls we’ve had in the Final Four, we could be at 14 or 15!

    We lost by 3 and were 11-23 from FT line. Say what you will about who stunk and who didn’t, but when you compare the stat line, it is super close in every category but the free throw stripe.

    I don’t like moral victories but this is one. The Cards are #3 with Dieng back and had us down 17, and they were playing at home. The CBS guy at the half said he felt a blowout was coming in the 2nd half. Instead, the Cats punched back and they had the Cards on the heels for the last 8 minutes of this game. Camp Cal is working and the Cats will not face a test as tough as this for the remainder of the season. We are getting better.

  93. All in all, I’m happy with the effort today, and even though WCS missed several FT’s, he played REALLY hard!!! GO CATS!!!

    Free throws hurt. Poythress’ big no show was the dagger. Can’t have your leading your #2 scorer on the bench for the second half because he is selective about when he gives effort. Very frustrating.

  104. bort
    6:32 pm December 29, 2012 Permalink

    For every great play Goodwin made, he made 3 bad plays. I didn’t see the final stats, but Goodwin had to have 12 turnovers/bad shots taken. BTW, how hard is it to break a press? It wasn’t until 5 minutes into the second half that Cal finally put Noel and Cauley-Stein in the backcourt to catch the inbound pass. But back to Goodwin. Does this guy ever flippin’ pass the ball? Yeah, to Louisville players he passed it several times. He is the most selfish-player I’ve ever seen. I don’t care how many points he scores. He gums up the offense with his dribbling show and he doesn’t pass the ball to Wiltjer and Mays for wide-open 3s. There was a lot of positives that came out of this game. UK is awesome on defense with both Cauley-Stein and Noel in the game. And Harrow had a breakout game. Wiltjer seems more confident with his shooting. Bad news: free throw shooting with our big guys was pathetic.

    Impressive = UofK NOT losing by 25 Points.
    Impressive = Kentucky fighting, only losing by 3.
    Impressive = W. C-Stein. It is about time you showed up and fought like a brave.
    Impressive = CAL’s a coach folks.

    Depressive = Free throws

    I saw alot of fight and scraping heart. To play Louisville to the wire, at their home, and put Siva, Dieng, and Smith in foul trouble……incredible.

    I abhor losing; but a good fight makes it more palatable.

    Folks, we left with our teeth and no major injuries. Once we figure out what we are, and stay in shape…..we have the ability to make a deep run.

    Like IU fans, UofL believe they are going to win a title. I am laughing even though UK just lost. UofL barely won against a team that shot 41% from the free throw line. If UK shots 60%, they win. UofL if lucky, makes the Elite 8.

    UofL will not win a title for the 27 straight year. You can cash that check as we speak.

    85. it was not a terribly called game. Yes, they didn’t call of of them-on us either, and that foul out call on Siva was non-existant. I thought you were a UL fan for coming here saying we lost because of the refs, just not so. WE lost because we dug ourselves a 17 point deficit, and couldn’t buy a friggin free throw. Great comeback, and a very impressive show by the boys in blue. I like the improvement, camp Cal is working. Don’t act like it was the refs, it wasn’t. Makes you look like a troll, jackass.

    Cal taking 150% of the blame in the post-game. Keeps on taking the pressure off the kids. Not many coaches could or would do that.

    Folks, don’t kid yourselves.

    RP controlled this game to the end.

    He pushes his teams; what better game and environment to measure that – BEFORE 2013 and the REAL season?

    To say Louisville will not win the 2013 NCAA is painfully myopic.

    What needs attention is our squad. Hopefully, they gained some confidence. All the Cats NEED work. I was proud; but recognized the youth, which this year is an HUGE weakness.

    Right now, we are a probably a two and done team.

    This 1 and done thing is killing us – this year (read into that what you want).

    I am concerned because UK has not beaten a single decent team they have played to this point…. We have feasted on cupcakes.

    Not impressed at al with loserville. The refs refused to call fouls on the tards in the first half. Uofl got by with a football-type “crack back” block at the end of the first half. Their players were slappin, pullin, and grabbin all over UK. For a stretch in the 2nd half, the refs started calling fouls and we saw what happened. If fouls had been called consistantly for the entire game, UK would have won looking away. UK looked like the far better team and I would bet on UK to win on a neutral court. Very proud of the way our guys fought today. The future is bright and I am with Cal, I like our team!!!!! GO BIG BLUE!!!! This game was so dictated by the officials that I don’t really look at this one as a loss.
